***Ava's POV***

As soon as I opened my eyes, a sharp pain hit the side of my head as the bright sun flooded my eyes.

God, how much tequila did I drink?

I looked down at my Minnie Mouse shirt and purple panties and raised my eyebrows. I must've been really drunk...

There was a little note on the bedside table that read:

Need to discuss some things, but didn't want to wake you. Meet me out in the garden when you wake.
-C

Once I was properly dressed in a pretty yellow sundress, I lazily braided my hair so that it hung over my left shoulder and set off to meet Cristiano. As I walked down the hallway, Jack quickly out of a doorway and nearly ran me over. We both halted and it became that awkward moment when both of us tried to move one way but ended up moving the same way.

"Ava," he smiled. "Sorry about that, didn't even see you."

Avoiding his eyes, I told him that it was fine. I wasn't holding a grudge against Jack, but I just didn't want to see him right now, I wanted to see Cristiano.

"I have to meet someone right now, excuse me," I said and he backed out of my way. I speed walked down the hall and away from him and though a part of me felt guilty for treating him that way, but my guilt would have to wait. The warm, summer days were getting colder and when I saw Cristiano sitting on a bench in the garden, even he was wearing his black pea coat.

"I got your note," I stated. He nodded and patted the spot next to him on the bench.

"Come sit down."

Once I was next to him, he looked into my eyes as if he were searching for something. "Cristiano?" I asked, pulling him out of whatever trance that he was in.

He shook his head and blinked making me giggle. "You okay?" I laughed.

"Ava, with all of the wedding preparations going on, I have neglected to fulfill my duties which include keeping you safe. I came up to see you earlier to warn you. Twelve of our men were taken this morning."

My face paled. "By who?"

"Not certain, but I have a hunch," he growled as he punched numbers into his phone to call someone else. We walked around the corner to where his black Escalade was parked. He held the door open for me and I slid in mindlessly. He sat in the drivers seat and began to go off in an Italian tangent and I glanced out the window mindlessly. A black blur caught my eyes and I squinted so that I could see better. There was a man dressed in all black with a gun, kneeling in the bushes about 50 feet away from us. My initial instinct was to scream but I knew that if I did that, I'd blow our cover. "Cristiano," I whispered urgently, but he was still on the phone and batted me away with his hands. The sniper inched closer and my breath was becoming erratic. He was aiming right for me.
