Chapter 16:
I tried to jump out of my sleeping bag but my bite hurt to badly. I couldn't move my leg.
"NICK ERICA SUDER WAKE UP MOLLYS GONE!" I exclaim to the others. They all wake up fast. "I think the beasts got her, it was in my dream, I saw it happen," I said out of breath, "they took her to the spire with the green ball on the top. We NEED to go now!" They all were silent and we ran out of the cave and started running to the stronghold, Erica and Nick were holding hands and I longed for Molly to be by my side.
"How are we going to get in?" questioned Suder. I looked up and thought about the height of the tower.
"We scale it of course," I said. Everyone started climbing. It was extremely difficult with my leg bite but we eventually got up there.
"Let's go," said Suder.
Chapter 17:
When we entered, it was quiet. No beasts around. I would've thought that the tower would be heavily fortified, but I guess not. It was dark and there were green lamps everywhere, but they didn't seem to give much brightness. There was a stairwell leading downward and screams and yells echoed throughout the whole tower.
"Where do you think Molly is?" asked Nick.
"I don't know." responded Erica. I wasn't really in the mood to talk. Erica looked down the stairwell. "There are hundreds of levels, we will never find her."
"YES WE WILL!" I screamed at her, "WE WILL FIND HER NO MATTER WHAT!!" She was obviously terrified by my rage and I felt bad because I couldn't control it. Nick stepped closer to her and put his arm in front of her as if he was protecting her.
"I'm sorry, I can't control my anger," I said to her apologetically.
"It's okay. I know it's hard," Erica said. I smiled slightly and turned away.
Chapter 18:
All of us started walking down the stairs and my leg started to sting again. It was incredibly horrible pain, I couldn't describe it. I think it was time to tell the others about my pain.
"Guys, my leg is hurting again," I said a little bit shaky. Everybody turned to face me. I haven't looked at my bite since the night I was bitten. I pulled up my pant leg and saw it. The bite was throbbing, green, purple, all different colors and was swollen.
"Oh no, this isn't good. This is your last night isn't it?" said Suder. Yes it was. I nodded, stood up and ran down the stairs.
"ILL FIND MOLLY, YOU FIND THE ANTIDOTE!!" I yelled up the stairs.
"BE CAREFUL!" said Erica. I looked back smiled at them and continued to run.
I checked every cell I ran past. I had millions of thoughts going through my mind. I had to find her though. I kept running and I heard "James!" very faintly.
I looked behind me and saw Molly in her cell. Oh my god.
Chapter 19:
Molly was sitting in her cell against the wall. She was covered in blood and scratches.
"James.." she whispered. I opened the door and knelt down next to her.
"What happened?" I said, "Are you okay?" She nodded and pointed at her arm. There was a bite as bad as mine on it. "No, no no no no no, is this from a beast?" She nodded. Just then the others walked in.
"Oh my god, what happened to you?" asked Nick.
"She was tortured and..." I paused, "she was bitten by a beast." Everyone was silent and downcast. "That means that only one of us can take the antidote," I stated to everyone.
"Well the antidote is ahead so let's get it then we will decide who will take the antidote if we don't find another way," Suder said. I picked up Molly and carried her to the end of the hall.
Chapter 20
We walked into a room at the end of the hall and sure enough, the antidote, a green liquid was sitting on a pedestal in the center of the room. Beasts attacked us but we merely slashed away at them.
I wasn't going to take the antidote. Molly was taking it no matter what. I set her down against the pedestal. Nick reached to pick up the antidote, but there was a force field around it. Then there was an evil, deep laugh.
"You must sacrifice one person to the beasts as an offering, if you want to live and have the antidote. You have 20 seconds" said the voice.
"I'll do it," Nick said immediately. The beasts were closing in on us fast. he turned to Erica and hugged her tight.
"I love you," said Erica. Nick smiled, and leaned in a have her a kiss. They stayed still for a while. Then Nick pulled away and smiled at her again. then walked into the corridor. Then the door closed. Erica began to sob a bit. Suder gave her a small hug.
"Molly will take the antidote," I said, "she has to live." I grabbed it off of the pedestal and opened the vile and dripped the liquid into her mouth slowly. Then I fell to the ground and the bite was painting me much more. Molly sat up and leaned over me.
"Why did you do that?" she said. I was having trouble speaking.
"I love you Molly," I said. Then I saw the light begin to disappear and my last glance was her beautiful face. Then everything was gone.
