Did people ever dream something so bizarre that you feel numb? Did they ever predict what was going to happen in the dreams they have? Because Mara wasn't sure whether or not this was a dream.

Was Jason Blossom really dead? Was it official? As for Lemonade Mouth - was she really out of the band?

As for Reggie, she knew it was a dream. It just happened, the dream. And she was freaking out. Four friends lost already, did she have to lose one more?

At 2:03 a.m., Mara couldn't sleep. She was plagued with the thoughts of Jason Blossom and poor Cheryl. Did Cheryl need company? Did she need a hug? What was Mara supposed to do?

Go for a jog, of course.

The cool wind was enough to stay awake through out the jog. To pay attention to the small details of the neighborhood. The women sneaking out of the master bedroom, looking like they were in their mid-20's. The scared child from a couple houses down, glancing out the window every couple minutes. The raccoon messing up the neighbors trash.

And Mara felt like a run was in order. She ran and ran until she felt like she couldn't, stopping in front of a nice, cozy house. Panting, she stretched her back by touching her toes. A sudden crash had Mara by surprise. She nearly jumped out of her skin!

Mara looked up at the house, confused. What was going on?

A couple of minutes past, causing any suspicion Mara had to disappear. Shaking her head, she begins to jog back towards home. It was like she was in a daze, within a dream, within another dream. Has the fourteenth wall broken?

Mara couldn't understand. Why did tragedies like Jason Blossoms' death exist? What even caused Jason to be killed? Did the Coopers have anything to do with it, considering Polly was Jason's girlfriend?

So many questions unanswered. Yet, if one were to be answered only more questions would come.

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.

Confusion was the only obstacle in Mara's way, and she had to somehow get around it. She needed to know how Jason died and how he was related to the recent breakup of Lemonade Mouth.

Maybe, just maybe..

Perhaps there was one person in this town who could give the slightest clue on solving this case. And everyone knew exactly who to go to in situations like this.

Jughead Jones.

-

"Jughead, please. I need to know why he died," Mara begged. "He was one of my best friends." The darkly sarcastic writer looked up from his laptop to stare her in the eyes and give her the answer she absolutely dreaded. "No."

Eyes were a gateway to a persons soul, they say. Maybe the way to Jughead was by trying to understand him. "Why not? Don't you want writers credit for reporting such an amazing story on why Riverdale's golden boy was murdered?" Mara said in a voice that was of one person who'd dangle a treat in front of a puppy.

"Already writing a book, thanks."

Mara huffed as she slouched in the booth. It was nearly impossible to convince this damn kid. It's been an hour since she came into Pop's Chock Lit diner, searching for the crowned observer of the world. It's almost as if she'd have to buy his help.

Suddenly smirking, Mara leaned across the table to look him straight in the eyes. "I have an offer not even you could refuse."

Humored ice blue eyes met sparkling chestnut eyes. "Shoot," Jughead accepted, smirking. He didn't think she could actually win this, did she?

"I'll buy you a burger, fries, and any milkshake you want if you'll help me figure this out," Mara announced proudly. She could see his figure falter as he sat back into his seat. The struggle in his eyes told her he wanted to help her. No - he wanted the food. Either way, Mara could totally live with it.

Jughead took longer to think about it than Mara thought he would need. A good solid 7 minutes and 54 seconds. She'd timed it because she was hoping that he wouldn't say no. Her result wasn't one that she had hoped.

"Deal. But if I want to bring people on board, than I could," Jughead negotiated. "Then I have that power too," Mara replied, holding her hand or for him to shake. Jughead's eyes flickered towards her hand. Did he trust her?

The deal was made promptly, as Jughead agreed. "Deal." The ordering of the food commended immediately after and the two talked as if they were 32 years old and as if they were old pals from college who haven't seen each other since their weddings. They told jokes, laughed over what ridiculous things people do, and even spoke about their favorite literature. And it felt nice of Mara didn't have the feeling of someone watching her with cold eyes.

Cold eyes that were filled with hatred, anger, and shallowness.

AUTHORS NOTE:
Man oh man I should be finishing the PowerPoint for my PreCalc (since our teacher has decided that us teaching the class would be such a great idea) since I am teaching tomorrow ALONE (because my partner sucks). But I needed to get this done so here's another update! Sorry for the delay, family reunions and hospitals, AP tests are in a couple of weeks, Math because I suck at it, and my dads home from Afghanistan for the rest of the month so might be busy, I might not.
So this chapter was going to be a mind twist but I decided against it. (I'll explain to you what had happened very vaguely before this chapter) So in the story Mara isn't apart of Lemonade Mouth anymore. It's kinda sad. And it was a confession and crushing decision to let Mara go. But now she has more time for Reggie!
Or does she?
