Chapter 1: Special
ACE'S POV
I smelled the air, half asleep. Mmm, sausages. It must be Saturday. "Ace! Wake up, your going to be late for school!" I hear my dad calling. He's messing with me again. "Don't mess with me dad, I smell sausages, its Saturday!" I yell back to him. He laughs. "Theres no tricking you, is there? Come down when your ready." I start to get dressed as I think about what I'll do today. "Lets see, first I'll play Call of Duty on the PS for about an hour, then call up Drake and we'll go to Gheridelli, the ride our bikes around town, flirt with Re-" I got interrupted by my stupid older sister, Mia. "Ace, wheres my hairdryer? I know you were messing with it yesterday." Oh my god. She really is stupid. How does she get straight A's? "In your bathroom, I was melting your soap." Her mouth drops and I smile. That soap costed like $50. "Run along now." I say with a grin. "Now, lets get the day started!"
ABOUT 100 OR SO MILES NORTH..
FAUNA'S POV
"Fauna (Faw-na), aren't you going to Artily's (Art-til-le's) house today for a sleepover? You better pack." My mom asked me. "Yeah, I probably should. And I told you, she prefers Artie." I told her. Then my dad walked in. "Good morning Claire. And good morning to you Fauna." He said and kissed us both on the head. I sighed. "Morning dad. I'm going to go pack now, bye!" I ran upstairs. Artie was my best friend, and we were a heck a lot alike. We both loved singing, we're both terrible dancers, we're both single, we both love art, though shes much better than I am, and we both love animals. Sometimes I feel like I can understand them. But the biggest thing we have in common is we both feel that we're meant for something special. After I'm done packing, I hop on my bike and ride to Artie's.
ARTIE'S POV
"Just wakin' up in the mornin' in the new world, I'll be honest with ya I just wanna explore, and when I think about makes me wanna do more, so lets get down to it, mine ore!" As I sing I get ready for a day of minecraft, singing, terrible dancing, and of course exploring. Then my dad hears me singing and sings to me one of my favorite songs, "Keep on singing, don't stop singing, your gonna be a star someday! Your gonna make a lot of people happy if your ok with that Artily Grey!" We both laugh. My mom died a long time ago, so my dad just takes care of me, Gabriel Grey. "Remember, Fauna's coming over today." He says. "Right! Hey dad, can I ask you something?" "Of course," he tells me. "What is it?" I gulp. Time to admit. "Do you ever feel, that your meant for something special? That your a different part of the world?" I ask. Long silence. "Yes." He finally answers. Then the doorbell rings. "Looks like Fauna's here. Have fun!" And then he walks out. Just like that. Just opening the door and walking out. Without touching the door.
