a heated argument

Malfoy looked at Harry like he'd rather be anywhere else but in the dimly lit bathroom. He cleared his throat, avoiding Harry's eyes best he could, but the small space between them made it almost impossible. Harry felt like he should be uncomfortable, but was rather pleased with himself being close to Malfoy for once. Realizing where this thought was going Harry stopped.

"I just wanted to thank you. For saving my life you know." Malfoy said. "You didn't have to do that, you didn't have to turn around to get me, but you did."

Slightly taken aback Harry looked at Malfoy, trying to read his face. He didn't know if he was joking or not.

"Oh, I was just trying to be heroic. Getting an even better reputation than before. And I am expecting the same thing from you, so I'll send you an owl next time my life's in danger." Harry said sarcastically, trying to make the situation easier for Malfoy, but also getting back at him. He had after all tormented Harry for six years.

Malfoy just looked at him.

"Stop. I'm being sincere, can we for once be serious and not be mean to each other? Or else I might have to punch you in your face for being an annoying brat. And can you please not rub it in my face that you're famous." Malfoy was pointing at the chocolate frog Harry had taken out from his pocket to eat. The card inside it had been Harry himself, smiling and waving from the picture. "I fucking know that."

"Okey first of all, let me eat my chocolate frog in peace. And second of all, if I would've left you, I could never forgive myself. So it's nothing."

Harry was getting annoyed. He stuffed the chocolate frog in his mouth and opened the door into the empty hallway. He didn't walk out yet, if Malfoy had something else to say. What was Malfoy even doing, and why did he want to talk to Harry about this now, in this stupid small space with only three decimeters between them.

Malfoy walked up to Harry, gave him a small pat on the back. To Harry's surprise he felt a little empty that it was only a friendly pat. A hug at least would've been sufficient. Passing Harry on the way out, Malfoy muttered a thank you again. Trying not to make a scene for the now watching students in the hallway, Harry made an awkward wave, causing some third graders to giggle, and closed the door. Inside the bathroom he paused for a moment, going over what just had happened.
