CHAPTER 19

Derek's POV :

I returned to the warehouse after spending the evening rummaging for clues in the woods. It has been over 48 hours since the last sacrifice that Stiles and Scott had spotted. What if this wasn't some kind of crazy lunatic performing rituals? What if they were just two completely unparalleled crimes without a mutual cause?

My mind continued validating various theories, when suddenly a huge jolt of excruciating pain overwhelmed my senses. I fell to the ground, losing all body coordination, shifted into my werewolf form unwillingly, and roared as loud as an alpha could possibly roar.

Seconds later, I heard Peter's agonizing roar on the other end of my floor. He was probably in the same state as I was in. But what was going on?! Does this have something to do with Charlie?

There were similar painful reactions when Peter first met her and when I first tried to invade her thoughts, but none of those were so aggravating.

"Derek, it's Charlie! I just know it and I bet you do too. She's in trouble! It's like a panic button has shut off my system's control panel." Peter yelled in between breaths.

"Derek, are you alright?" Erica rushed to me and tried to lift me up. I tried to support myself against her but every movement I made caused the pain to strengthen.

I growled and sweat drenched my body.

"Okay okay. I'm not moving you! I don't know what's happening to you, but I heard Peter groan in the same way. Is it the effect of the full moon? Because if it is, I'm scared!" Erica shivered as she watched her alpha in pain. She also didn't want to share a similar fate, being her first full moon experience.

"No, Erica! This isn't about the full moon. Call Scott now! And go make sure Isaac's ok." I commanded regardless of my pathetic situation.

Erica hesitated and took out her phone from her pocket. She proceeded to text Scott.

"Umm, well Isaac isn't actually here right now ... But I wasn't supposed to tell you and ..." She stammered without making eye contact. She knew she was in serious trouble.

If my anger could be represented by flames, the whole of California would've burned down.

"ISAAAAAAAAAAAC!!!!!!!!!!" I howled into the night and the whole room vibrated as a consequence. I'm sure he would've heard me.

Scott's POV :

I stood in the school parking lot, holding Alison in my arms as she breathed slowly. She was overwhelmed by today's memorial event and the fact that the killer was still out there. Although this was a crappy time, having Alison by my side felt really nice and being the one comforting her made me feel special.

Stiles ran up to me from one of the back entrances. He looked petrified.

I immediately backed away from Alison and she suddenly shifted into cautious mode and looked around for her Dad.

"Oh Stiles, are you alright?" She rushed up to him and put her arm around him, trying to calm him down.

"It's Charlie! I can't find her anywhere. I showed up late to her speech, unintentionally by the way and I stayed through almost the whole thing and then I heard this strange noise coming from the guys locker room and ..."

"How could you have heard that? The guy's locker room is all the way in the other block! You couldn't have heard it unless you had my hearing abilities!" I replied, curious about Stiles.

"You know man, if this was a werewolf coming out story, I would've got to the good part by now ok! But in all seriousness, I followed the noises and I saw Lydia wandering alone in the same direction but she couldn't hear me. She looked like she wasn't in control of herself, as if she was possessed or something. And when we both got to the locker room, she walked inside and then fell to the ground and screamed and trust me when I say this, it was louder than the screeching of a thousand red foxes. Dear God!!" He blinked his eyes really hard as if to erase that moment from his memory.
