Hours later Versela awoke in the hospital to voice's talking quietly. "She's going to be fine Mr. Cerulli" A doctor spoke to Chris.
"Are you absolutely sure. No head injury? Her concussion won't cause any problems?" Chris asked frantically. He was worried. He didn't want to be the cause of anyone getting hurt, let alone such a beautiful girl. "Yes, I'm absolutely positive. Now we just need to wait until she wakes up, it shouldn't be long now." The doctor finished about to walk out of the room when Versela spoke.
"No need to wait, I'm awake now," She stated groaning as she sat up. Her body felt stiff, which made her wonder how long she had been out for. "Ahh, perfect Miss. Now from what we could tell you have a minor concussion and being as you have woken up now you should be fine but if you do throw up or pass out at any time during the next 24 hours we want you back here, and you also have some cuts and bruises here and there and have cut up your hand a fair bit so we put a few dissolvable stitches in that. But all in all, you are very luck and you should be fine. How do you feel?" To Versela she felt like that had just all been dumped on her and she had to take a moment to think through it all.
Versela's silence worried Chris. He had to know she was ok, he had to make it better.
She nodded at the doctor, "Yeah, I'm ok just a little stiff" she said re-adjusting herself on the bed.
"That's to be expected honey, you will loosen up soon," The doctor told her while standing at the end of the bed. "And if that is all I will leave you two and tend to my other patients you are free to go whenever you like." The doctor said with a smile and exited the room.
The two stared at each other for a second before Chris finally spoke up "Hi" he said simply, suddenly nervous to talk to her. "Uhhmm... my names Chris" Chris said stepping closer to the bed and extending his hand to Versela. "Versela" she replied slowing taking his hand and shaking it lightly. She was feeling less stiff and it was obvious she would be fine in a matter of minutes. "So who are you?" Versela asked Chris wondering why this stranger was here.
"Umm. I'm the one who crashed into you." Chris said rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm really sorry about it by the way. It was completely my fault and I'll pay to have your car fixed." Chris said quickly trying to be helpful and to make sure Versela didn't stress about the accident too much. And in the back of his mind, Chris also knew he really wanted Versela to like him, but he couldn't figure out why.
"Ok..." Versela said looking deep into his eyes. She was trying to figure out whether to believe him or not, he seemed trustworthy, he did stay with her without even knowing her name. She blinked a few times before sighing, deciding she would just trust him. "So. Do you know when I'll be able to get my car back?" Versela asked looking back to Chris.
"Yeah it should only be about a week, there wasn't to much damage but insurance should cover a rental car until then so you'll have a car by tomorrow" Chris replied slowly getting more comfortable around her. "Umm, another question. Do you know where my bag is? It had my phone and stuff in it." Versela asked Chris while looking around the room.
"Oh yeah! It over here." Chris said walking across the room and picking the large black handbag up off the floor and handing it to Versela. "Don't worry I didn't look through it or anything" Chris explained standing a bit back from the bed. "Thankyou" Versela smiled up at Chris. She was feeling a lot better now and could think clearly. He seemed like a good guy, definitely not one who would do this kind of thing on purpose. "You know you can sit right?" Versela said a cheeky smile sliding onto her face. Chris smiled back pulling the seat closer to her bed and sitting down so they could talk. He really wanted to talk to her more, in fact, he didn't want to leave.
"So what do you do for a living?" Versela asked as she pulled her phone from her bag checking her messages and answering more back, also explaining the situation. "Well, I'm a musician. What about yourself?" Chris couldn't contain the smile on his face, not just because of who he was talking to but he loved to talk about his job. It's his favorite thing in the world. "Well, I'm actually looking for a job at the moment. I had an interview today but I missed it cause... you know" Chris immediately felt bad, he could have ruined this wonderful girls chance at her dream job. "But it's whatever, it's not like it's a dream job or anything it's just a receptionist job at the local recording studio so it's no big deal I'll find something else," she said with a reassuring smile. In hindsight of recent events, it didn't really bother Versela that she had missed her interview, she was alive and healthy and after the crash that's all she could ask for. Chris suddenly brightened slightly at the mention of the record company. "You know I could get you another interview at the record company," Chris said hoping she would take the option. If she took it, it would give Chris so many more chances to see her. He might even see her on a daily basis, for months at a time. And that thought made Chris happy, probably happier than it should, but happy.
"You don't have to its fine, I'll find something." She said "Eventually" she mumbled that last work hoping Chris wouldn't hear it. He was already so sweet about the accident she didn't need him to go out of his way like that for something so basic as a job interview. "But I insist, it will be easy I work with them so just give me your full name and number and I'll give them a call now," Chris said with a smile, but Versela was slightly shocked. 'He works with them?' She thought. Reluctantly she took the piece of paper Chris held out to her and wrote her full name and number on it. 'Versela Rabimatsu - 098763358' Chris smiled at her handwriting before getting up and going to the door, but before leaving he turned around and smiled at Versela. "I'll be right back, don't you worry about a thing I'll get in all sorted out." He gave her a final wink before opening the door and exiting the room.
For the next few minutes, all Versela could hear were mumbled words from the other side of the door, then Chris burst in with an excited smile on his face
"You got the job!!!"
"OH MY GOD REALLY" Versela screamed back out of excitement. Chris only nodded back with an even bigger smile on his face, knowing Versela was happy somehow made Chris 10x happier and he couldn't figure out why.
"Thankyou so much Chris! You're the best!" Versela exclaimed happily pulling Chris into a hug that they both seemed to never want to pull out of.
