"Hannah. What a beautiful name for our beautiful daughter."
"Jason, she's gorgeous."
"Oh look, she has a bloody nose."
Sweat oozes down my hot cheeks. Newborns don't usually get a bloody nose."Maybe it's just pretty dry in here."
"Ashley, get a napkin."
"Oh, yeah. Sorry. I'll go get a napkin."
Why do I feel so worried? Jason and I just got a child and everything's great.
I grab a bunch of napkins from the kitchen counter and walk to Hannah's new room, trying to act nonchalant. I find the door locked. How odd.
Using my soccer skills from high school, I kick the wooden door, hard, and it falls to the floor.
I cannot believe what I'm looking at. Jason is on the floor, on the brink of death. Blood drools out of his stomach. Tears roll down my blue eyes.
"Jason, are you okay? What happened to you? Who the hell did this?!"
He points his finger to the crib and then his hand drops and his eyes close. I walk briskly to the crib and see that Hannah is gone and blood is all over the inside of the crib.
"Hannah! Where are you? God, why did this happen to me?"
Suddenly I hear someone in the house and he stomps into the room I'm in. I turn around, my brunette hair and pink dress billowing around me. He is wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants, and his hood is covering his face.
"Who are you? What did you do to my daughter and husband?"
He grins and removes his gun from his pocket.
"Goodbye, Ashley Lewis."
He points the gun at me and shoots. Pain erupts through my body as I fall to the floor.
"Please don't do this to me"
He shoots again and pain strikes through my veins, blood, and muscles. I close my eyes and surrender myself to death.
