The snow beneath his converse sneakers crunched like hard, dry cereal. The small town of Snowdin had not seen any fresh snow for nearly half a month now. His piercing blood red eyes sliced out from under his fur lined hood. He was searching for something. And he didn't plan on stopping until he found it.
It has been over two years since the simultaneous mercy runs threw his universe into the original, causing them to melt into one singularity. Not much changed… the resets still happened again and again, the place was still deep in the dark underground, all of it. What changed was the doubles. Everyone had one. A lighter, kinder, oddly trusting version of themselves.
It took some getting used to. The awkwardness of holding a conversation with oneself. It was a bizarre feeling. Both so foreign and so familiar. Not to mention the friendly way that they lived. Their type of love was far different than the L.O.V.E he had always known. No one really lived by the kill or be killed rule. However. That was long ago and the continuing resets have made it so the monsters of the underground began to slowly evolve the idea there had always been two. The only ones to remember there was two separate AUs were the Sanses.
Even the humans came in two. Whatever run they were committing, whether they killed or spared, it was always in pairs. And everyone always trusted them, always believed them to be good. Always. But… it was okay. The Underfell Sans, nicknamed Red by the world, could face the repeats now because he had his counterpart by his side. He was no longer alone and never would be again. His counterpart is what he was looking for now.
Finally, Red located the other small skeleton. He was leaning against the Ruins door. Telling knock knock jokes and the double voiced laugh of the two former queens would echo from within. Red slowed to a stop and only watched the other tell a joke, wait for a laugh, than laugh back in response.
A deep red blush grew slowly across his cheeks as he stared at the mannerisms of the blue Sans. He felt guilt somewhere in his soul with his dirty little secret. He felt differently towards Sans then any other being he had ever meet. Feelings he knew he shouldn't feel. He wanted to be close to him all the time, wanted to get to know every conceivable detail of him. Felt desperately lonely without him. So lonely he would actively seek him out… just as he had now.
Suddenly, Sans noticed Red and waved briskly. He bid the former queens farewell and made his way to Red. “Hiya, Red. You didn't have to come all the way here to find me.” He smiled that wide, shit-eating grin he always seemed to wear.
“You were gone forever and I’m bored.” Red muttered under his breath. Pulling his skull deeper into his well worn jacket hood.
Sans suddenly wrapped his arm around Red’s neck bones, “If you missed me so much you only have to say so.” Sans sneered as he peered into the fluffy hood at Red’s blushing face.
Red shoved Sans off, quite uncomfortable, “Come on, knock it off with the touchy-feely stuff. You're gonna get me beat up.”
Sans laughed as he jammed his hands into his hoodie pockets, “Oh, lighten up, Red. Come on let's go visit Grillby, that always makes you feel better.”
The two skeletons made their way to the well known restaurant, walking so they had the time to chat. Sans prattled on about this and that. Red listening to every word the other spoke. He could listen to his silly stories about his brother or some stupid joke he just invented, all day. Red didn't need to say anything back. He simply wanted to listen to the sing-song lowercase voice of his counterpart. So lighthearted, so gentle.
Red didn't understand why he felt these strange emotions or was acting the way he was. Never before had he been shy or coy around others. He most certainly wasn't picky when it came to partners. No matter whoever he chose as his current flavor… they were always easily persuaded.
He would flirt, would schmooze, would even flatter. He was brazen and forceful, yet with an undertone of gentleness that made anyone want to experience the thrill of his danger. The terrifying aura he emitted held his quarry captivated with fear. All the while, his fanged smile whispered sweet nothings that seemed to resonant down their spine. Then once he’s had his fill of them… he moved on to someone else.
However, with Sans this was nowhere near the case. His suave composer and devilish charm shattered then crumbled away. Leaving him bare and venerable, completely exposed to not only Sans but everyone they were connected to. And Red hated it. But what he hated more was the fact that he was sure Sans knew it as well.
“You know, A conversation involves a second person’s response,” Sans stated.
Bringing Red out of his daze, “Huh?! Oh, I agree.” He stumbled over his words.
Sans slowed to a stop as he huffed out a sigh into the cold air. His breath like a small cloud swirling about his face. “Look Red… Let’s stop playing these games. OK?”
“Wha? I don't know what your talking about.” Red grabbed a fist full of blue hoodie sleeve, “L-let’s go. I thought we were going to Grillby’s.”
Despite Red pulling on his arm, Sans refused to proceed. “Did you really think I didn't notice?”
Red froze, blushing hard, he turned to face Sans. “Stop… I don’t-”
Sans cut Red off by grabbing his humeri and holding him in place. “You don't hide it very well.” He lowered his voice and nearly whispered, “At least not from me. I am the best of you.” Sans moved to Red’s round cheekbones, cupping them in his mitten covered palms.
Red literally quaked in his boots and his entire skull lit up. He couldn't move, let alone think, as one of Sans’ thumb slipped into the corner of his mouth. He forced Red’s jaws to split. Open to him, Sans clanked his teeth against the other’s. His thick, slippery ecto tongue entered Red’s mouth.
With not a thought Red summoned his own magic tongue and began aggressively wrestle with Sans’. He didn't even realize his arms had wrapped themselves around his counterpart. His small phalanges digging deeply into the soft blue fabric. As his seemingly limp body leaned into Sans’ Red moaned deeply into his mouth.
Only after several moments Sans would force the kiss to break. A thin strand of saliva connected them for a few nanoseconds before stretching and breaking away. When Sans chuckled Red awoke from the hazy aftermath. “You like that?” Sans huffed before leaning forward to give a little lick to Red’s golden fang.
Red’s eye sockets grew unnaturally wide as his red pupils shrank to nothing. He shoved away from the laughing skeleton. “What are you doing?! We can't do this?! It's wrong… somehow.”
“Why? Who said? Hundred g says Mettaton has done himself already,” Sans winked.
“Mettaton is gross!!” Red shrieked.
“Come on, Red. You want this and you know it. Why can’t we try… Please?” Sans grinned cutely.
Red heaved a mighty sigh. He couldn’t stop himself from saying, “Alright…. I guess….”
Sans only grinned as he threw his arm about Red’s neck. He stirred them both back onto the trek to Grillby’s. “You know this makes you my boyfriend now?” Sans poked Red in the ribs.
Red groaned in annoyance, “I don't think I like this…”
