Title: Code: Breaker

Artist/Author:  Kamijyo Akimine

Demographic: Shounen

Genre(s):  Action, Comedy, Drama, Martial Arts, Mystery, Romance, School Life, Supernatural

Summary: Riding the bus one day, Sakurakouji Sakura looks out the window to see people being burned alive with a blue fire and a boy her age who's unharmed and standing over the people.

She comes back to the site the next day and there are no corpses or evidence of any kind of murder, just a small fire. She then goes to class to find there's a new transfer student, Oogami Rei, who looks exactly like the boy she saw before and wears a black glove only on his left hand.

Oogami is a Code Breaker, one who "does not exist". He is a seemingly cold-blooded killer who follows the principle of "an eye for an eye", to "use evil against evil". Convinced that killing is not right, Sakurakouji sets out to stop him and penetrate his icy heart.

English sub/dub: I watched Sub, but only because in most cases I prefer sub over dub, the only exception really being Bleach.

My thoughts? I watched the anime first, after finding it on youtube and I enjoyed it a lot, which made me go on to read the Manga. You could just watch the anime if you want, but I liked the Manga better just for the more in depth story and the characterisations. That's not to say the anime wasn't good, I really liked the voice actors for the anime, and the art was very pretty, but the story was a little different to the Manga. The Manga asks those really deep questions on what is evil and what it is to be human, and I liked how not everyone was just 'evil' they had redeeming qualities and you could understand why they were doing what they were doing. It was also hella funny, but I really liked Sakura and her willingness to stick to her beliefs and how she didn't give up on Oogami. The supporting cast is also really great and I was really sad when I finished reading this, cos it was like, well what now?
