A full moon with the stars sparkling so bright; it was the perfect scenery for the twosome to have their little romantic fun in the pool. They haven't been able to do something like this in a while. Either because Jiyong had to wake up early for school meetings or because Armani was always so sore from a long and exhausting day at work. Luckily, Jiyong was unemployed at the moment, and Armani was off that day. How convenient that she was off on her birthday. What Jiyong did for her was sweet and thoughtful. It was the best birthday present she's ever had. An amorous date on the terrace, then after, a tender and amusing instant in his temperate pool. He never failed to surprise her each year.
"I thought you didn't know how to cook." Armani chuckled. Her arms were wrapped around his neck, nearly inches away from his air as her legs were enclosed around his hips. Jiyong's muscular arms held her legs up in place, gazing up into her beautiful brown eyes. "I don't. But that doesn't mean I wasn't gonna try for your special day." He smirked. She beamed back, getting a tingly sensation in her stomach. They were butterflies. Even though it was cheesy, she appreciated what he did for her.
"How did you even find the time to prepare all of this? I'm still in shock. I never thought Mr. Kwon Jiyong would ever do something this spontaneous for his girlfriend." She giggled.
"What, you didn't think I was the spontaneous type?" He smiled.
"Of course I did! You just always seem to focus on what's more important..."
There was a brief moment of silence before he spoke. He wasn't so sure of what she was trying to say, but then he put all the pieces together. "Armani, nothing's more important than you and I. I quit my job just to prove that to you. You're more important to me, okay?" He said. Her eyes found their way back to meet his, with a look of sadness. She nodded and kissed his lips at ease. Armani knew how much Jiyong cared about her, but she still had that gut feeling that he'll leave her again. She always thought that she wasn't good enough for him. He's a successful professor and she's a senior college student who works part-time as a cleaning lady. How are they even compatible?
"Shit, what time is it? Oh my god, I have school and work tomorrow." She said, breaking the kiss and getting out of the pool. Time flew so fast, she didn't even realize that it was already 2:00am. She cussed to herself, picking up her belongings in a dispatch. "Sleepover tonight." Jiyong suggested. As much as she would love to do that, she couldn't. She had an oral presentation for her philosophy course. The course Jiyong taught. This normally isn't a problem for her. But now that Jiyong wasn't her professor anymore, she didn't know if she was going to do well with a new professor.
"Hal su eobso. Balpyoga isseo." (I can't. I have an oral presentation.) She said as she rushed her way inside his house.
"Chincha? Eotteon keullaeseu?" (Really? Which class?) He asked right before she reached the inside.
"Cheolhag!" (Philosophy!) She said. And that's when it hit him. He felt bad for not being able to see her presentation, but he knew she was going to do great. No doubt about it. Armani had always aced her orals. As long as she did what he had always told her to do before an oral, she had nothing to worry about. His go-to advice was to use positive visualization. She needed to be optimistic about the outcome. If not, god knows what'll happen. That situation has never occurred to her before.

Friday afternoon. Armani presented her oral and surprisingly did amazingly well. Of course she nervous, but it didn't show. She pictured Jiyong sitting at the back of her class, watching her the whole time with a proud smile. She texted him with excitement as soon as she was finished.
"Hey, Armani! You wanna hangout tonight? I was thinking we could see that new movie playing tonight. 'The Birth of Happiness'?" Jaehyun asked. Jaehyun has been going to this school for three months now. He has more friends than he ever did on the first day, but he just loves to spend his time with Armani. He knew that they will only ever be friends, but he had a mind of his own, thinking that there could be a slight possibility that they'll end up together one day. His actions said a lot: he was relentless.
"Sounds fun, but I was kinda hoping to spend some time with Jiyong tonight." She said in the nicest way possible.
"Again? Aren't you with him every day of every second already?" He whined.
"We used to be, but now he's unemployed. And before he goes back to work, I wanna be able to do things we were way too busy to do in the first place."
"So, you're ditching me... again. That's nice. I know how much you care about him, but it wouldn't hurt to care for your friends either." He said. With that, he rolled his eyes, shaking his head as he left. Jaehyun and Armani barely hung out anymore after Jiyong quit. Everything became all about him all of a sudden. He started to feel excluded and it pissed him off. She knew how Jaehyun felt, but she at least thought that he'd be a bit more understanding. Jiyong was her boyfriend, and she wasn't going to stop spending time with him just to make Jaehyun happy.
"Jaehyun..." She called, but knew he wasn't going to turn back. She sighed heavily then made her way to her locker.
Jiyong was at the bar with Youngbae. He hasn't yet got a call from Dongseo University. He was still waiting and it stressed him a whole lot. He heard his phone vibrate and expected it to be them. It was Armani. He read the message that she sent, saying that she finished her oral. A huge grin formed upon his face as he read it. He was proud of her. Very proud. But it wasn't much of a surprise since he already knew that she'd do well.
"You're one hell of a man to quit your job for her. Maybe I should do the same for my girl." Youngbae joked, taking a sip of his beer.
"Nah. Chaeyoung would rip your balls off if you did that for her." Jiyong laughed.
"Agreed. But you've never done this before. Not for anyone. Ever! Why did you do it for her?" Youngbae asked. Jiyong turned his head to him and pondered on his answer. He had no clue. Nothing seemed to be worth losing her. Nothing. Nothing at all.
"Kwon Jiyong. What an awful surprise to see you here." A strange woman said with a cheeky smile. Su-ha. Kim Su-ha is Jiyong's ex girlfriend. He was in a six month relationship with her right before him and Armani started dating. He broke it off with her because things weren't really going the way he wanted it to. But for some reason, she couldn't take the hint. She harassed him day by day until she finally got over the break up.
"Shoot me now." He sighed in annoyance.
"Oh, I could. But I won't cause I'm better than to waste a bullet on someone like you."
"Su-ha, it was three years ago. Get over it. I didn't want to hurt you, but I wasn't gonna keep pretending that I was happy with the way things were either."
"And there you go again with the bullshitting. Look, I didn't come here to waste my breath on a piece of shit. So, if you'll excuse me." She took her ordered drinks from the bar table and dismissed. After she left it was real quiet right until they both bursted out laughing a few seconds later. Su-ha was a mistake—a huge mistake. She had more faults than qualities. He never noticed that until they broke up. He was more focused on her beauty at the time.
"I think I saw some horns trying to pop out of her head. She should really check that out." Youngbae chuckled.
"Man, I can't believe I got myself out of that one. I must've been really lucky. Fuck." Jiyong said relieved. Right at that moment, his phone buzzed. He checked the ID number and it didn't look too familiar in his eyes, so it must've been the University calling.
"Hello?" He questioned.
