~Changkyun~
Highschool, what some would describe as either the worst or best four years of their lives. Jihyun was no different, but for her highschool was the only good time in her life. The rest of her life, was the worst.
For fourteen years she had been bullied, hated, and outcasted - having only three friends, which was all she really needed. Their names were Minha, Kasey, and Jinwoo - who was Minha's boyfriend. And they were the only reason she hadn't ended her life, although she desperately wanted to.
Then, she became a freshman in highschool and every thing changed. 2 hours and 32 minutes into her first day of School, to be exact.
That's when she met him, Lim Changkyun.
"Hey loser, hope you had a nice summer," A brown haired girl sneered, sticking out her foot to trip Jihyun. In success. "And an even better fall." She and her friends laughed as they walked away. No one had bothered to help Jihyun pick up her things, leaving her scrambling to pick up the loose leaf paper and folders sprung across the floor. Just as she went to grab her English folder, her hand met with anothers.
Jihyun looked up at the other and froze. She had met the gaze of what was possibly the most gorgeous man she had ever seen in her entire 14 years of existence. He had dirty blond hair, parted to the side, and wore eyeliner around his beautiful chocolate brown eyes. His lips were slightly parted and his nose flaled as he exhaled. He wore a white short sleeve t-shirt, v-neck, and ripped blue jeans.
Suddenly, Jihyun had come back to her senses, and it was as if time had been frozen. "Th-thank you.." She mumbled, accepting the red folder from the males hand. The blond stood up and extended a hand to Jihyun, to which she gladly accepted. Once the male had helped her off the floor, he bent down to pick up her bag.
Jihyun hadn't noticed the small crowd of people watching them until she looked around, "Don't pay attention to them," A deep voice spoke, "they're not important." Jihyun snapped her gaze over to the blond, "O-okay.." She muttered, "Where's your next class?" The male asked, "Oh uhmm..." Jihyun felt her pockets and then sighed, "Shit, uhm....fuck.." The male chuckled, causing the crowd to begin muttering. "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" He joked.
"No actually, I use this mouth to express my emotions." Jihyun replied back, under her breath - but the male still heard, and chuckled once again. "What's your name?" He questioned, earning Jihyun's attention, "I'm Jihyun, Jung Jihyun....you are?" "Changkyun, Lim Changkyun." Jihyun smiled, "That's a nice name." Changkyun smirked, "Thanks, I got it when I was born." Jihyun clicked her tongue, "Smart ass.." She mumbled, "Dumb ass." Changkyun chuckled. Jihyun snapped her gaze at Changkyun, "I am not dumb." She said, her voice louder than before. Changkyun just chuckled and shook his head.
Ever since that day Changkyun and Jihyun had spent more time together. In fact, they spent every day together; meeting one another at their lockers, walking to class together, eating lunch together, meeting together after school, and even facetiming before they went to bed. They were inseparable.
One day, things began to change. Not in a bad way, but more of a personal matter. In that, Jihyun grew feelings for Changkyun - of which she had no idea they were reciprocated.
She would try to give little hints and make flirty jokes, but believed she was getting no where. Until....
"Hey JJ!" Changkyun called out to his best friend. "Yes Kyun?" Jihyun questioned, opening her locker. "What are you doing after school today?" He asked, excitement in his tone. "Nothing, why? What's got you all hyped up?" "Well I got tickets to the roller rink and I didn't want to go alone so, would you like to go with me?" Jihyun smiled, "Sure, why not?" Changkyun smiled, "Yes!" He exclaimed, "You, are amazing." Jihyun laughed and went to reply when Changkyun pecked her cheek, leaving her speachless. "I gotta go, but I'll see you after first period, love you!"
Their relationship was never the same since that day. While roller skating, Jihyun had slipped and fell on top of Changkyun. The two had errupted in laughter, but that laughter slowly turned into silemce as they looked into each other's eyes. Right then, right there, they kissed.
After that, the two had begun dating. And continued to date for the rest of highschool. But it all came to an end on May 25th, the last day of school. Changkyun had pulled his best friend of four years aside from the happy crowd and ended it - along with Jihyun's happiness.
"I hope we can be friends." He said, walking away as Jihyun began crying. "After all we've been through...and it ends like this." She had muttered under her breath. Jihyun slowly reached for her graduation cap and threw it on the ground, then walked out of the gym. She was never the same after that.
She had began to speak softer. She abandoned her dreams of going to college. She kept to herself more, and barely left her house. She had a job at a local bookstore down the street from her small apartment, and walked every where.
There she sat, alone and unbothered, with her music blasting in her headohones. She had her head down, eyes closed and mouth shut. She was so peaceful and zoned out that she hadn't heared, or seen, a costumer walk in the store.
"Excuse me." The man spoke, holding an armful of books. He sighed and gently set the books on the counter. "Excuse me." He said again, as he tapped Jihyun's shoulder. Her head shot up and she pulled her headphones out. "Sorry about that sir." She apologized, "If you're ready I'll ring you up." The black haired man chuckled, "Thanks."
Jihyun took the books and rang them up, the room was silent until the man spoke again. "....JJ?" Jihyun froze in place, she hadn't heard that nickname in forever. She looked at the male, "K...Kyun?" She questioned, more to herself than him. "Wow, I never thought I'd ever see you again." She muttered. "I know, I thought you'd be in college or have some fancy job!" Changkyun chuckled, "How are you doing?" He asked. "You don't want to know." Jihyun mumbled, "Oh come on! I haven't seen you since graduation."
"Yeah, when you broke up with me and crushed my heart. You know, that really didn't feel great. I mean, my first ever boyfriend - and love - broke my heart and is the entire reason I'm not in college and also why I'm not working at some fancy job. That's really something to be excited about." Jihyun let out a heafty sigh, "I'm sorry..." She mumbled, putting her head down. Changkyun was too shocked to speak or move, had he really hurt her that bad?
"JJ...I.." "It's fine, I'll get over it." Changkyun frowned and placed his hand on top of Jihyun's, "If it counts, for anything, I still ha-" Jihyun used her other hand to squish Changkyuns face, "Don't say it.." "-ve feelings for you.." Jihyun let go of Changkyuns face and sighed, "Why..? Why did you break up with me? Why did you even go out with me in the first place?" "Because I loved you too much.."
"What?" "I loved you too much. I was so scared of hurting you that I thought it was better to break it off early than have you be so attached to me that it hurt more later on. I don't know, I was stupid." Jihyun sighed once again, "So...what now?" Changkyun shrugged, "Could we...maybe, start over?" "As long as we don't have a repeat of Graduation Day, I'll be fine." Changkyun chuckled, and laced his fingers with Jihyun's from over the counter. "I missed you, highschool sweetheart." Jihyun tried to hold back her smile as she rolled her eyes, "Whatever..." She mumbled, looking back at Changkyun - who was smiling. She couldn't help but smile back, "I missed you too."
Looks like this story, has a happy ending after all.
