Warriors Fanfic: ~SunStream's Fate~

Chapter 1

SunKit bounced out of the nursery with Honeykit, FeatherKit, and Cloverkit at her heels. RedFang, the deputy, stopped with a vole in his jaws. He must have just come back from a hunting patrol SunKit guessed. Redfang put the vole down and looked at the kits. "Are you excited for your apprentice ceremony? It's not long now, it should be soon actually" The deputy asked. "I'm Super excited!!" Sunkit meowed happily. "Ya" HoneyKIt added. "I wanna be a medicine cat!!" She meowed. Cloverkit bounced up and down "Of course Im gonna be the best!" The she-kit meowed. Even though CloverKit and Sunkit were best friends, they had different moms. Featherkit looked down. "I'm rather nervous, actually" She meowed quietly. Redfang purred in amusement. "Don't worry, you'll be fine" He reassured her. "Well, I better go" The deputy picked up his vole and went over to the fresh kill pile, dropping his prey onto it. SunKit saw LynxStar appear from her den and climb atop the highrock. The leader called out the familiar meeting words. "Let all cats old enough to hunt meet below the highrock for a clan meeting!!" Her voice echoed off rocks and throughout the camp. SunKit saw MintBreeze appear from the elders den with Oakpelt and sat next to him and VixenTail, who had just padded out of the warriors den with her mate, Brokentalon, who had sat on the other side of her. SunKit sat next to her littermates and Cloverkit under the highrock and watched as the rest of the warriors emerged from the warriors den. She saw the medicine cat, MudFlower, sit outside her den. She looked up at her leader. "Today we have four kits who will become apprentices. Sunkit, Honeykit, FeatherKit, and Cloverkit!! Featherkit, from this moment on, you will be known as FeatherPaw!!" Lynxstar meowed. "SplashPrint, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You will be mentor to FeatherPaw. Splashprint, you have shown yourself to be a Fast and intelligent warrior. Do all that you can to pass on what you know down to FeatherPaw" The leader nodded as Featherpaw touched noses to her mentor. MudFlower spoke up. "Cats of LightClan, it is time for me to take on an apprentice. Your next medicine cat will be HoneyPaw." The tortoiseshell she-cat meowed. "HoneyPaw, do you accept the post of apprentice to MudFlower?" LynxStar asked. "I do." SunKit could feel Honeypaw shaking with excitement next to her. "Then at the half-moon, you must travel to Mothermouth to be accepted by StarClan before the other medicine cats. The good wishes of all LightClan will go with you." The leader meowed. "SunKIt" SunKit's ears pricked as her leader spoke her name. "from this moment on, you will be known as SunPaw. VixenTail, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You will be the mentor to Sunpaw. VixenTail, you have shown yourself to be a Brave and stealthy warrior. Do all that you can to pass on what you know down to SunPaw." SunPaw went over and touched noses to her new mentor. "Cloverkit, From this moment on, you will be known as Cloverpaw!! Your mentor will be WolfCall!! Wolfcall, you have proven yourself to be an independent and fierce warrior, I expect you to pass this down to Cloverpaw. That is all. Meeting dismissed" LynxStar jumped down from highrock. "BrokenTalon, DawnFlame. Please come here, I would like to speak with you both" She added as the two warriors padded over. SunPaw looked at her mentor. "when are we gonna start training?" She asked, eager to go into the forest. Her mentor laughed. "You should get some sleep for tomorrow. That is when we will start your training. Go get some prey and rest" Her mentor meowed as she padded towards the warriors den. SunPaw went over to the fresh kill pile and grabbed a plump mouse from the top. She brought it back to the apprentices den and laid in a moss-nest, eating the mouse. When she finished, she licked her lips and fell asleep.

When she woke, Sunpaw left the den and spotted her mentor. "Can we start training now?" She asked. "I don't see why not" Vixentail replied. "We will go hunting" She added. Vixentail padded out of camp and signaled for Sunpaw to follow. When they got into the forest, Vixentail stopped. "What can you scent?" She asked. Sunpaw lifted her muzzle and drank in the air. "I can smell.....MoonClan..." She reported. "that's right" Vixentail praised. "The Moonclan border is in that direction" She pointed her tail at the direction. "Can you smell anything else?" Sunpaw lifted her muzzle again. "I can smell vole." She told her mentor. "That's right. Now, drop into the hunting crouch" Sunpaw did as she was told. "Now locate the sound and scent of the vole" Her mentor whispered. Sunpaw saw the tiny brown vole near the root of a tree. "Now creep up on it. and when your close enough, pounce" Her mentor advised. Sunpaw crept up on the vole and pounced, trapping it between her claws and nipping it's neck, killing it. "Good job!!" Vixentail's praise warmed Sunpaw as she carried the limp body of the vole in her jaws. "now, let's get back to camp. When you get into camp, bring that straight to the elders" Vixentail meowed as they neared camp. Sunpaw padded into camp and went into the elders den. She dropped the Vole in front of Mintbreeze. "your first catch?" The elder asked. "yep" Sunpaw raised her chin in triumph. Mintbreeze purred with amusement. "Do you remember when I caught my first prey?" She asked Oakpelt. "Oh, yes" The raspy voice of the tom replied. "you were bragging to every apprentice in camp" He added. Sunpaw padded out of the den and sat near the highrock.
