My name is Amber Birch. I am 17 years old. I'm looking for a full-time job, as I've dropped out of school. I'm willing to do office work, or something to do with writing.

I look at my barely-written resume. I hate writing these. All of mine have been rejected by other work places. It's hard to get a job at my age where I live, and I specifically want to be an author, but I lack the education to do a proper course at a University.

I mean, I can't finish school now. I've been homeschooled for years, and attended a real school for only years 7 and 8. My parents died in a car crash right after, leaving me to be taken care of by my Grandfather, as I don't have any siblings or any other family members. But he died 6 months ago, only leaving me with a small portion of money to take care of myself. Now I really need money, and fast.

I decide to do what every other person does when they're desperate for a job, look online. I grab out my phone and lie down on the couch. I scroll through a site called Dream Job Search. I look under the 'literature' section. Nothing shows up. I frown at my phone. I decide to look in the 'other' section. I scroll for a while, not finding anything, as all of the jobs have been taken. I reach the bottom, to find the smallest job description I've ever seen, which was actually available.

"Looking for someone desperate for a job. Good pay. To be discussed in person."

That's strange. I look at the address below. Only a couple of streets away from mine. Though this site looks like it could be fake, I guess it's worth a try. There's nothing left. What else do I do?

I click the 'accept' link and book an appointment for this afternoon.

~Later~

I'm holding my phone which has the address on it. I walk for only a couple of minutes until I see what's supposed to be the address. It's a large brick run-down building, with two large guys standing either side of the door. I turn my phone sound off, before turning it off completely. Don't want to be rude with it going off, not that it ever really does.

I nervously walk up to the two guys.

"Um, I booked an appointment for an interview today." I say quietly.

The two guys open the door for me.

"Thank you." I say in a low voice before walking inside.

"Ah. Welcome. Sit, please do." I hear a woman say from behind a large wooden desk.

I look around, to only see just her desk and a chair on both sides. Nothing else is around, besides the white walls and ceiling. I take a seat and look at her.

She has curly grey hair, almost like a mini afro, wearing a tight floral purple skirt and a button-up jacket that matches. She also had bright purple glasses, that really stick out. I cringe a little at the sight. It's a nasty look.

She grabs out a paper file and places it in front of me. I open it up to see a contract. A contract with no words, besides the word contract itself. Why on earth is there no other writing?

"Just sign here and you'll be sorted."

There is no way this woman is being serious about this job. Is this a joke?

"So this isn't a scam or anything?" I ask anyway, as I'm suspicious of my surroundings.

Who just has a partly empty desk and chair in the middle of a giant room? Who has a contract with no other words besides the word 'contract'? Who doesn't even tell you what the job is that you're applying for? Who even-

"Ha ha! A scam! Pft no!" The woman behind the desk says in a squeaky voice, interrupting my thoughts.

She clears her throat and adjusts her glasses.

"We take our business very seriously around here."

"What is this job exactly?" I ask, remembering how the site only said 'to be discussed in person'.

She just sits there, staring deep into my eyes, as if she's trying to read my mind. I  keep looking away, but see her continue to stare into my eyes, in such a robotic manner. It's creepy. I look at her a little unsurely, and pick up the pen. I have no choice. I'm too desperate for money, and I'm ready to take anything now. I sign the paper. The woman immediately snatches it away from me, as a wicked smirk appears on her face. Now I immediately regret this.

"Maybe I should just go..." I say in a low voice as I get up from my chair.

"Sit. Now." The woman barks at me.

I stay standing in fright. This woman shouldn't even be telling me what to do, though she seems powerful enough already.

"Sit. Now. You have signed the contract and that is that. Now sit!" She yells.

I have no other choice but to sit.

There's a silence for a couple of minutes.

"Um, so when do I start my job?" I ask, tapping my foot on the ground nervously.

"Now." She says.

"Wait, as in right this second?" I ask.

"Ha ha ha! Silly girl." She says in a high pitch voice, and clears her throat again.

I sigh in relief.

"Of course right now." She says in a serious tone, as she clicks a button on her desk.

Immediately, the two guards from outside kick the door open. They each grab one of my arms and push me into the chair. I start wriggling around, trying to set myself free. They push my arms onto the armrests and grip my wrists, leaving me in incredible pain. A button is pressed on the woman's desk again, as metal rings appear on the armrests and trap my wrists. One big metal ring wraps around my waist and locks itself. My eyes widen. I'm too scared to speak. The guards let me go and walk outside again, ignoring what happened. I'm shaking in fright. The woman gets up from her desk and walks towards me. She puts her face up to mine.

"This'll all be over soon if you just cooperate." She says, as she adjusts her glasses.
