Chapter 1

Maddie slammed her door as she came back from school. She wished her head could blow up right then and there. Maddie furiously yanked out her diary and began to scribble out words. Suddenly, there was a faint knock on her door. She quickly shut her diary and slipped it under her pillow. Startled, she said, "Who is it?"

"Maddie its me, Kenzie" She said quietly. "Mom wants to talk to you for a bit..."

Maddie slowly unlocked her door and to make sure Kenzie wasn't on the other side she bent down and looked through the hole. 'Nope' she thought. Then, she crept out of her room quietly and slowly. She tip toed down the stairs and walked into the kitchen.

Her mom, Melissa, was waiting for her at the table. "Oh, there you are, Maddie. I need to talk to you about dance."

'Uh oh' Maddie thought, 'If its about dance, it could be good news or bad news.' Speaking of that, she can already tell that it was bad news because her mom had a frown on her face. Maddie shook out of her thoughts and listened to her mom. "As I was saying, Ms. Abby said that you are not going to do your solo this week. She thinks you are not putting enough effort in it so instead she is putting Chloe in the solo." Maddie could feel the tears rolling down her cheeks. Embarrassed, she ran to her room and slammed the door, again. She pulled out her diary and wrote again. Tears dripped on to the page. As she was writing, she began to feel something she has never felt before, Guilt. "Why? Why me?" She said out loud. Closing her diary, she walked out of her room and into the bathroom across from her room. Maddie looked into the mirror and cried even more. She took a tissue and dabbed it at her mascara that was making their way down her cheek. 'Knock knock' went the door.
