Chapter Two- Preparing for Departure, Part Two

Kat slowed as she reached Ollivander's, knowing Ron was a ways behind her still. She opened the old door to find boxes upon boxes of wands, all the way up to the ceiling. Ron burst through the door as she walked up to the desk to ring the bell.

"Hello? Ah, a Weasley and... a Prewett? Must've been 11 years again already," a man said as a ladder slid past a corner. He picked two boxes and handed them to the children as Arthur walked in. "Arthur Weasley, a pleasure to see you again. Wand still in good shape?"

"As good as it was when I first got it, thanks." Arthur returned the niceties and flinched when glass role across the room.

"Funny, I just fixed that because of a young man; Harry Potter no less!" Ollivander laughed a little.
He took the wand from Kat to hand her another one, and handed Ron a similar one to the one he had before. Both new wands worked brilliantly for the witch and wizard and they left the old man's shop.

"Arthur, over here!" Molly waved over the group and nearly popped a vein in her neck when she learned that Ron and Kat had not been to Madam Malkin's yet.
She sent them there alone this time, telling them they could go wherever afterwards and that she would get their books. Kat handed her some money before running off with Ron before Molly could refuse it.

They almost ran into a boy with raven hair who was leaving whilst walking in. After apologizing, they separated to have their new school robes fitted and paid once they were finished.
Ron dragged Kat to the Magical Menagerie to look at the school pets. When Ron spotted the cats, he teased Kat and told her to get one. When she reminded him that cats prey on rodents, he shut up fairly quickly.
'However... I might get a pet since I do have the money for one.' Kat thought. She eventually lead Ron to the Owl Emporium instead and walked in to buy one of the owls. She walked out with a Barred Owl in a beautiful, and thankfully cheap, silver cage. She had a bag of Owl treats that she'd bought in her bag as well.

She and Ron then made their way to Potage's Cauldron Shop to buy a cauldron- even though they dreaded potions because of Fred and George's rumors.
After they bought their cauldrons, they went to the Apothecary next door to buy supplies for potions. Thankfully done with that, Ron and Kat just walk around, going to whatever store looks intriguing. Kat buys a few things for Ron and when they make their way back to Flourish and Blotts, they spot the Quidditch store. They stop to look at the new Nimbus 2000 and practically drool over the sleek physique of it. Percy finds them and drags them back to the rest of the family.

"Everyone done shopping? Let's go home and finish packing for tomorrow!" Molly rushes them back to whichever fireplace with Floo Powder is closest.

"Why is Percy still not up? We're going to be late, George, go wake up your brother and tell him you're all in the car!" Ginny and Kat smirked at each other, knowing exactly why he wasn't up yet.
Kat hugged Ginny goodbye and hugged Molly as well.

"He won't even think it's us who got rid of his alarm, he'll think it was George! George is the one waking him up," Ginny told Kat as Kat put her luggage in the trunk.

"You're absolutely right, what a pleasant turn of events!" Kat laughed with Ginny and got in the car, waving goodbye as Percy and George got in too. "Percy, your hair is atrocious!" Kat winked at Fred and George who knew exactly what had happened.

"Mind if we sit here, everywhere else is full?" Ron asked, gesturing to himself and Kat. Once the stranger said yes, they clamored in with their school robes in their hands.

"Ron Weasley," Ron introduced himself, "and Katherine Prewett." Ron gestured toward Kat.

"But call me Kat instead." Kat smiled and nodded towards Harry.

"Harry, Harry Potter." Ron gasped and asked a silly question about the scar. Harry happily showed them the famous lightning scar on his forehead then asked if the two were dating.

"God no! She's my cousin!" Ron dramatically said. Harry apologized for the accusation and laughed with the other two. He'd been on the train for less than an hour and made two great friends.

"Excuse me, have you seen a toad?" A girl with big bushy brown hair asked, opening the doors. When told no, she told Kat to follow her so she could get dressed in her school robes as they drew nearer to the school. "By the way, I'm Hermione, and your name is?"

"I'm Kat, pleasure to meet you. Hope we get sorted into the same house, you seem really smart!" Kat walked into the girl's changing room and Hermione walked back to where a kid named Neville was, along with Sky.
