Other than getting adopted today was any ordinary day. So, after talking to Mimi and Luke once more before they left I slip out of the orphanage to meet Liv.
Liv and her mother, Julia live in a townhouse about eight blocks away from the orphanage across the street from the park. I text her that I'm on my way and we agree to meet at our bench by the playground.
Liv sits on the bench in all her 5'10 and golden hair glory. At 5'3 I literally have to look up at my best friend when I talk to her.
"Well it took you long enough," she gives me her signature smirk that would usually get us free beer from random guys outside the local mini-mart.
"I've had an interesting day," now I give her my charming smile. It wouldn't get us beer but it could probably get us a pack of gum if I really tried.
"Don't leave me in suspense!" She exclaims. "What happened?"
I take a deep breath before spilling it out, "I got adopted today."
"Omg! Details woman!" She squeals.
I explain how the whole thing happened and I give her every detail I learned about Mimi and Luke. For starters their real names are Madeline and Lucas Ventura and they've been mates since they were seventeen. Mimi is the vice principal at the middle school in their town while Luke co-owns a construction company with his best friend Will, who is the Alpha of their pack and Luke is the Beta.
"And they're werewolves too?" Liv asks in shock.
Yes, Liv knows about me and the werewolf business. I had to tell her when I kinda shifted for the first time right in front of her. She completely freaked out, but now that I think about it, it was hilarious. So yeah, we had a really long talk that night.
"Ave, I'm really really, happy for you," she says throwing her arms around me. "Though it might be a different story with Jules."
I let out a groan. Julia Anderson or Jules as most people call her is Liv's mom. She is the coolest mom in the world and she is the closest thing I've had to a parental role in awhile.
"Is she home? Better to just rip the band-aid off without counting, right?" I ask slightly praying she wasn't home.
Liv's green eyes shine in mischief, "Yeah, she's home. C'mon let's go, maybe we'll get a drink out of her."
And just like that we walk to the Anderson townhouse. While Liv settles on another round of questions. She asks about a million by the time we get to the steps of the house.
"So, they really agreed to adopt Morgan, too?" She asks.
"Yep," I nod, "I thought it was completely crazy for me to even ask but when they said yes I figured they were even more crazy than me."
Liv just opens the door because let's face it they never lock the door. I don't even think it has a lock.
"Jules I'm home! And I brought your pride and joy with me!" Liv yells shrugging off her leather jacket and throwing it on the coat rack.
"I'm in the living room Avery!" Jules' voice rings out from the next room.
We both walk into the living room and the all the white, that once blinded me feels like my second home. The furniture and carpet is all white with splashes of turquoise and light green all over the room.
Jules is in casual jeans and a tank top looking twenty instead of thirty-four. She has the same golden blonde hair as Liv and that's where their similarities end physically because personality wise they're pretty much the same person. But they'll never admit it.
