Clothes (Poem)

There is a story behind every item of clothing that I wear

A cheap flannel appearing as if it is about to tear

A steel-boned corset underneath

Hiding my insecurities

Baggy jeans sitting on my chubby hips

Black nail polish on my fingertips

Combat boots shielding my feet

A baseball cap hiding my face from the Arizona heat

To be without my baggy jeans and long sleeves

To hide my insecurities

Leaves me feeling open and vulnerable

My scars openly visible

I wish to hide every part of my fat body

From just about everybody

Except for that one girl

That makes me comfortable being revealed in the outside world.
