Branch was walking along his path filled with trees and grass, collecting sticks to build, as usual, when he heard a voice that he recognized right away."And if you knock knock me over, I will...get back up again!" Poppy finished her song and came into Branch's sight. He rolled his eyes.
"Do you have to sing?" he asked her, almost making her jump. She hasn't known he was here.
"What's the matter with singing? It's fun!"
"It's also annoying," Branch said, and groaned.
"Well, I'm sorry Branch. I'm just happy!" she squealed.
He rolled his eyes again. "There's a shock."
She sighed, turned around, smiled, and skipped away.

Poppy sat down with her friends, and they were all chatting away. Shd smiled at everyone, and sat down next to Guy Diamond and Cooper. He made her feel so short.
Poppy heard rumbling through Leaves, and she knew it must be only one person.
"Branch!" Poppy yelled, and had Cooper scoot over. She patted the spot next to her. "Come sit!!"
Branch shook his head. "I don't need to think about that twice."
Poppy sighed. "Okay, well, I'll see you later, I guess."
All her friends shook their heads.
"Why do you even ask?" DJ asked. "He always has the same answer."
"Which is no," Guy Diamond said.
"All I want is for him to be happy," said Poppy, as she looked at the ground.
"Well, let's talk a happier note. Poppy, your party is tomorrow, right?" Cooper asked.
Poppy looked up, now excited. "Yes!"
"I'll be the DJ!" said DJ.
"Satin and I will work on everyone's dresses," Chenille said, then looked at the boys. "Oh. We'll make them classy gentlemen. You'll all wear suits."
Poppy giggled at the look Guy Diamond gave Chenille.
"I don't wear clothes!" GD said, folding his arms.
"Well, tomorrow is special," Satin said.
Guy Diamond sighed, and smiled. "Fine. I'll be in charge of the decorations and glitter!"
"And I'll lift all the heavy stuff that needs to be up high!" said Smidge, as well stood up and flexed.
Poppy laughed so hard, she thought she might pass out, seeing Smidge flex like that.
Everyone else left, and Poppy felt at home.

Poppy began walking home, when she heard a noise. She jumped, turning around, and accidently crashed into someone.
A pair of purple arms wrapped around her waist and caught her.
"Are you alright?" Creek asked her.
"I'm fine," Poppy said, and stared up at him.
"You should really be more careful," she said, and helped her back to her feet.
She grabbed both his hands, and he spun her. She laughed, and so did he.
"Will you come to my party tomorrow?" she asked him, grabbing both of his arms.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world, sweetie," he said, making her blush at the name.
She let go of him and began to skip away, her hair bouncing around.
Branch had been watching, and he sighed.
"Why sweetie?" Branch asked himself. "Why does he have to call her Sweetie? She doesn't belong to him."
Branch sat down, and realized what he had just said.
"Oh no," he said. "No, no, no. I can't have feelings for her. No. She doesn't like me at all. So why do I like her? We're polar opposites!"
He groaned and slumped down futher into his chair.
"Life is hard."
