Tyler POV

We stopped at my house first so I could grab some supplies. My family was in the living watching the news since the sky has never been like this before. I ran up to my room and stopped in the kitchen for some snacks. Like they would even know I was gone in the first place. As soon as I opened the door my mom caught me, speaking fast angry Spanish at me.

"Where are you going?! It looks like it is about to storm outside and you are going back out?!"

"I'll be back mom, don't worry." I ran out before she protested again. I need to save Adara, she's too important to fall into the wrong hands. Midnight and I slowed down as it started to get dark. As we kept walking I couldn't stop thinking about Adara, even the first time we met. She was so shy and that made her look cute, the funny thing was that she was holding Midnight in her arms. Then we saw her family which looked like they wanted to bury me alive. She was so nice and funny, her smile was the most beautiful thing I saw. Then she got the fire element, she handles it really well, especially when I saw her fight. Though I still feel like she doesn't know what she is doing half the time. She looked amazing however, she fought like a pro and she doesn't even have a mentor! She just blows my mind in so many ways.

We were walking through a little clearing and our town was in the distance. It was like a shadow, very dark with heavy clouds casting a shadow over it. We have to hurry, it could be the end of the world right now. It had to be midnight when we were walking through the forest. I could still see her smoking tree like a beckon in the dark. I wonder how she set it on fire? Guess she landed in it. As soon as you die your powers are supposed to stop working. As long as that tree is still smoking, I know she is still alright.

"We have to find a place to stay tonight." Midnight yawned. I looked around and saw a little shack, it didn't look like much but it was a place.

"Over there." We walked towards the place. Getting closer it looked a bit bigger than an outhouse. I put my bag down and a couple sticks when we started to set up.

"I hope this place doesn't collapse on us while we're sleeping." She complained. It did look like one strong blow of wind could send it to pieces. It had holes in the roof and walls, it barely had a moving door. I started the fire with a pile of sticks and a tiny lightning bolt. "Tyler, are you alright?"

"I'm alright, how are you holding up?" I asked her.

"Well, to be truthful, I'm not so happy with how this day turned out. Adara is gone, her family is trapped inside their house and she had a dream about Nightmare and didn't tell anyone,"

"She did? When?"

"It was the night when she was first attacked by void crawlers. She was flying and it started raining, she crashed landed in the forest and he and his crawlers attacked her,"

"Sounds terrible, how did you find out?"

"I had to beg her to tell me. He actually started talking in her dream too, saying, capturing the fire elemental was too easy. Or something like that, I can't really remember,"

"Why didn't he do it?"

"Maybe he knew she wasn't going to follow him." She has a strong will or she's just extremely stubborn and knows when someone is lying for some reason. I couldn't think of anything that wouldn't lead her to go outside.

"Why did she come outside in the first place?" I asked.

"Her dad wanted her to go shovel snow," she shrugged.

"And she had to come out anyway." I sighed. I started to stretch and yawn. Midnight was already fast asleep, I fell asleep after that.

The first time she was attacked by those crawlers, I wanted to protect her and not let any near her but she just had to go outside during movie night. Why didn't she listen to me? It was for her own safety. I heard her banging on the door, and shouting. I tried to open it but it wouldn't budge, Amethyst ran to the window and took out her bow.

"Run Adara!" She shouted. Andrew crashed through the door and we saw Adara running away from three of them.

"Tyler, with me. Everyone else, fight the rest," Kris ordered. Everyone started fighting as we ran after the crawlers. Kris whipped one in half and one tried to jump on her. I shot it right before it got to her but the last one jumped on top of her. They tumbled right into a hole, everything moved in slow motion.

"Adara!" I shouted.  I shot the crawler that was on top of her and Kris grabbed her with her whip.

"I gotcha, barely." She grunted. I helped her lift her up, then saw the huge gash that was in her leg. Those things really snuck up on us that night and there was so many. I just know one thing for sure, I am going to save Adara from every void crawler that comes after us.

Adara POV

I felt so sore, it was night time and I was sitting in a flaming tree. What happened? I climbed out but as soon as my leg hit the ground it felt like someone just smashed it. Where am I? What happened? There were some lights in the distance and I limped towards them. I was fighting back tears in my eyes as I dragged my left leg forward. I didn't look at it, it would make me feel even worse. It was a winding path out the forest and it went to a little field. As soon as I was out the field, I was on a sidewalk in a neighborhood.

"Adara? Is that you?" Someone shouted from behind me.

"Who?" I rasped turning around. She came and hugged me, which made the pain even worse. "Wait, who are you?"

"Sasha? Your best friend remember?"

"I don't really remember anything,"

"Stop playing around, what are you doing back in town? And- Oh my gosh! What happened to your leg?"

"I woke up in a tree, I don't remember anything else,"

"Come on, you're coming to my house,"

"I'm sorry but I don't know you like that," I sighed pushing her away.

"Just let me help you, I'm a friend." What choice do I have? I leaned on her all the way there. She was a lot smaller than me, I tried not to put too much weight on her. What was she doing out here? It's like the middle of the night. What am I doing out here? How did I get like this? When we got to her house, her parents started freaking out over my leg. I really didn't to look at it. I looked at it anyway, it was bloody and very disfigured. Then it started smoking and it fixed itself. "Adara, what happened to you?" Sasha asked.

"I don't remember." I need to figure out what's going on here.
