The Necklace

Chapter Two: Destine

"This is like... what's the word? Destine!" I liked the sound of that word. It made me feel special when I said it.

"Yeah, it's crazy. Like, how on earth could both of us, two random girls, just find necklaces that are identical? Not to mention they were both glowing at the same time!" I like this girl. She really understands me. Just like Roni, but maybe more...

Wait. Uh oh. Uh oh. Uh oh.  I need to go back to my family. I should have been back 20 minutes ago!

"I need to go back!" I screamed. "My parents told me to come back in an hour and I'm 20 minutes late!" I know my mom with be really mad. She hates it when I don't listen to her.

"Wait, Raven? Wanna come and meet my family? Maybe you can grab a bite or two at our BBQ."

"Uh..." I can tell she's thinking. She's tapping her thighs with her fingers. Tap tap tap. I can here it. It's s loud in my ears. It sound more like bangs. I always had sensitive hearing, but like this? No. I can't handle it. 

"Sorry." Raven apologized. For what? Oh, yeah. "I.. I got to go.  Come back here in an hour. I'll be right in this same spot." She got up and started running. Her long, silky hair, swinging behind her. It made me feel funny on the inside. No one ever makes me feel like this. 

I got back to the BBQ. Lots more people are here now than any family reunion EVER! I don't like this. I was surfing threw the crowd, looking for Roni. Where could she be? Let me at least find my mom. Man, do I hate crowds. They are so loud. 

I kept walking till I saw my mom. What was she wearing? It's like a weird big hat. I don't know if you can even call it a hat. It had weird neon colours and string at the top. Not a pom-pom, but just, string. "Mom!" I screamed. Ewww. My voice cracked. Puberty. Yeesh. 

"Hey hun. I was looking for you. Were you lost in the crowd? Because I was. Your dad's side is so big. And he also invited some friends. Anyways, you need to grab a bite, you must be starving."

I hate it when parents go on and on and on and on about random crap. It useless!

"Nah, I'm fine. I wanted to ask you were Roni is. Have you seen 'er?"

"Yeah, like an hour ago. I saw her go with Lucifer to the forest or something. I don't know."

"Can I go to the forest? Please?" I tried to do some puppy eyes. My eyes are already so big though. 

"Aww, fine. But when you come back, you have to eat something."

"Thanks! Bye!" I dashed and ran as fast as possible. Bumping into people I knew and didn't, stepping on people's feet and bags, maybe even tripped a kid. But I had to see Raven again. Something, my heart  felt incomplete without her. But I didn't like. I mean, like like her. No, not in that way. As a friend. 

When I was close to the spot where we met first, I began to walk slow. I was really tired. I walked around a tree and saw Raven . Man, I would kill for her hair. I've always wanted burgundy. Anyways, what is she doing? She chanting something. I don't know what, it's gibberish.  The, my necklace starts to glow. I suddenly began to scream again, just like when I was little. And I can't stop! I notice Raven is screaming as well. Are we possessed.  The, BAM! We both fell to the ground. I began to have a vision. I'm not even gonna try to stop this, I wanna see where this is going. 

I'm walking through the forest. Jumping over logs and trees. It was fun. I walk and walk for a long while. Then I see a river. It's flow is fast. But I don't care. I was an inch away from the edge. I notice it's like my memory with Roni in the forest, but where is she? I look around. She's no where in sight! I look down at my shoes and notice my hair is really long. And, it's not black, it's burgundy! How? Am I Raven i find a puddle to look at my reflection. I'm Raven! Wait? I'm Raven? Is this her memory when she found her necklace? Maybe.

I continue to walk and see a glimmer on some damp grass. I slowly walk over there. Step one, step two, step three. Why am I counting the steps? Well, this isn't my biggest worry at the moment. I bend down and pick up the shiny object. It's my necklace! Well, soon to be Raven's, not mine. I put it on. I feel the same way I felt when I put on my necklace in my memory. Dizzy, sick and all that stuff. But I don't scream, nor drop or see a man telling my sister to splash some diseased water on a 6-year-old's face. Just silence. Everything stopped. My mind has stopped. (And I probably my heart stopped beating for a moment!) I began to move, but I can't control myself. I'm like, drunk or something. I sway, back and forth and back and forth. Then I fell. Into the river I go! I'm still not screaming, although I wish I was. 

I'm basically dead now! Blood is all around me, going with the flow of the river. Probably broke a few bones. Suddenly, I began to rise. Rise up and above the river. I notice my hands are up making a lifting motion. Am I doing this? Yes! Yes I am! I move back onto the land. I'm in control now, GOOD! I put my hand over my wound and began to cry.  I don't feel hurt anymore though, like it healed. I take my hand off, and it did! It really did! The vision slowly fades away. Bye bye Raven's mind.

I wake up. I stand up and notice Raven is screaming. I go to her. She stops now and opens her eyes. I look at her. She tilts her head like she's confused, just like me.

"What was that?" She asked me. How am I supposed to know! What if we aren't event talking about the same things. 

"The vision, of you?"

"I had it about you! When you found your necklace, with that girl, Roni." Raven said.

"It's my sister. I had it about you finding your necklace." I answered her. "I love your hair by the way!"

"Thanks." There was about a minute of silence. "I know what the necklaces do." She said from the middle of no where. How?

"What?" I asked.

"They give us powers. At least I think. And, well, it's really weird after I got my necklace. I..." She stopped. Why did she stop?

"You what? Tell me!" 

She gesture for me to come closer. She grabbed my ear and whispered "I'm not human anymore!"
