I felt a cold shiver of air run up my spine as I ran far, far away from them. I couldn't help but to go back for her even though it risked my life alone. She was my best friend, well sort of.
"To be honest I don't know why I went back for her, thanks for waiting here though," I tell him.
"Oh, no problem. This way I can keep an eye on you two and make sure they don't get you... again," Cameron explains to me. Cameron has always been there to keep us out of trouble.
Kate has been shot on her shoulder by one of their dart guns, I don't know who they are, but they are shadowy, dark and mysterious. They've been after us for about two years now. We are heading to 'the house' where we almost always are. It's right at the point of our three backyards. Kind of like our second home. It's a treehouse with three beds, two bathrooms, a game room, a kitchen with a fridge, microwave, and pantry. When we have sleepovers we sleep there instead of choosing someone's house.
We got there on jetpacks, Kate being carried by Cameron. The second we get there we know someone is there. Them, who else would it be?
"Oh, no!" Cameron exclaims. They are there, we don't know who they are or what they want, but they want something from us.
"Let's head to my house," I tell him. He nods in approval. We hear a faint gunshot coming in from a distance. This time it hits me.
I black out for just a moment, Cameron awaking me fast enough, not ending up like Kate, her life is on the line and we need help-fast!
The phone rings as we walk in, nobody answers because we know it's them. Then, another cold shiver shoots through me at the thought of them.
"Call Agnes!" Cameron shouts, setting Kate down carefully. I do as he says, he should know what to do, he practically saved my sister's life! She had been shot last year, when they found us. Ever since, she had listened to us, and stayed a distance away from them.
"Okay! But don't put Kate in the open they could find us," I shiver as I think of that happening. "Put her deep downstairs," I say thinking of the old abandoned factory we had found, nothing was wrong with it, so we knew it was safe. We found the factory a week before they found us. No one knew but us. Not even my sister, Paxton. She knew everything, but this.
Agnes knocked on the door. She was a wizard, she could cure anything! So we knew she could help with this.
She scurried in the door, as fast as her little legs could carry her, she followed us down, but stopped at the passage door, frozen. We kept going, looking back, she wouldn't follow us.
"She's in here," Cameron explained to her.
"Well I'm sure she is. But I'm not going in there!" She shouted the last part, spitting on me. I wiped the spit off slowly, and as I did, Cameron kept the debate going.
"Why not? Nothing bad is in here! C'mon you'll be fine," Cameron assured her.
"Bring her out here, but promise me... promise me you will never ever go back in there!" She nearly screamed the last part! Nodding in fear, Cameron ran to get Kate. I stayed with Agnes, wondering in the silence why we couldn't go back.
Cameron came back as I asked "Why can't we go in there? It's just an old factory nothing bad," Agnes just stared me in the eyes.
"Let me fix your friend and then I'll tell you all why you can't. It's a long story from ancestors," She explained as she worked her magic on Kate. It never takes long, so we sat there in an awkward silence.
"All done!" she exclaimed as she snapped over Kate's head. Kate awoke with a jump.
"Now will you tell us?!?" Cameron asked in awe of Agnes's work on Kate. Agnes smiled and nodded. She motioned for us to follow her, and so we did.
"Okay, here it goes," she said as she sat on the sofa, getting comfortable. Continuing, she told us the tale.
