Hwayoung sat on the couch in her living room as she quickly flipped through channels until she found the boring news station. She sat comfortably embraced in pillows and blankets with her legs crossed, her laptop, and a warm cup of tea that her cold fingers wrapped around. She stared at her blank document and watched as her cursor blinked to a timeless tune.

Time passed by her without much consent. First it was just one minute, but then it progressed. Five minutes, then ten, then fifteen and more. As the clock ticked away, Hwayoung only got annoyed and a bit discouraged with every moment that passed her by. Being an amateur, there is a whole list of little inconveniences that can annoy the hell out of anyone. But this was much more than slow wifi or even smeared ink. This was writer's block.

Writer's Block.

The mental brick wall that stops the flow of creative juices to the brain.

AKA the author's version of getting your pinky toe smashed against a table.

Lovely to say the least.

A small echo of a door shutting made Hwayoung shake her head. "Dammit," she hissed. Trying to ignore the distractions (not like it ever worked), she furrowed her brows and intensified her stare onto her blank screen.

"The news? Really, Babe?"

Hwayoung rolled her eyes and growled under her breath. She sprawled her dainty fingers across the keyboard and began typing away.

"What? No 'hello'?" JongDae chuckled and snaked his arms around her. Still, she didn't reply. JongDae took Hwayoung's silence as an unacceptable answer and began punishment immediately; Neck kisses.

"Ugh! Jong, that's gross!" Hwayoung whined and raised her shoulders to push him off. She moved her cup of tea from her lap to the coffee table to stop it from spilling JongDae continued his little "punishment." She then scooted away from her kissy boyfriend. However, this is all to no avail as the goofy "adult" plopped himself next to her, snuggled up, and began to pester her.

"Why don't you like my surprise kisses, Jagi?" He sounded like a little kid that was trying to guilt their parents' to let them stay over at a friend's house. A voice that had the appearance of innocence, but the intent of mischief was what he always sounded like for the most part. "Come on, Jagi," he started again when yet another one of his kisses were rejected. "They're just for you."

"Jong, not now. I'm busy." Hwayoung took her hands off the keyboard and gave him a small nudge.

JongDae rolled his eyes and flopped back to where he originally was. He rested his head on her shoulder and stared at the screen with her. "Oh yes, jagi. Busy indeed. It's beautiful-Magnificent, even! Your manager would love this! I know I do!" Sarcasm poured out of his mouth about as easily as a running faucet.

"Hey! What part of 'I'm busy' don't you understand?" She spat out defensively and crossed her arms. She glared at her laptop until her expression softened and she bit her lip. "I'm just in a bit of a pinch." JongDae rolled his eyes and pinched her side, causing her to jolt and yelp in pain. "What the fuck, Jong?"

"That's no language for someone writing a children's book, my love," he warned jokingly. "Keep it PG at least."

Hwayoung rolled her eyes, but was honestly quite amused. She flicked his forehead when he wasn't paying attention. His playful yelp of pain was enough to put a smile back on her face. She stayed in that state a bit before she sunk back into the couch again. "It's not book yet, Babe," she said.

"Outline. Whatever!" groaned JongDae. He successfully planted a soft kiss on her cheek that made her smile a bit longer. "All I'm saying babe is that you need to calm down and just your creativity take the reigns."
