Chapter 2
“Why were you late big sister? I was waiting for you and now my legs hurt!” A whining voice asked as the little girl’s hand was held by her older sister. Misa rolled her eyes and looked at Kate beside her who was chuckling to herself. “Please tell me, or I won’t walk” The young girl stamped her left foot and stood still as Misa insisted her to walk by pulling her arm, but the young girl shook her head and frowned as she slipped her hands out of Misa’s. “Listen Michelle, you can’t throw a tantrum now, it’s getting late how about I get you an ice cream later?” Michelle shook her head and crossed her arms “I don’t want to walk any where now, my legs hurt! All my friends was laughing at me because you never came!” Michelle pointed her index finger at Misa scolding her. “Oh no not the finger” Kate whispered and slapped her palm against her forehead.
“You don’t have to care what others say, you know big sister and daddy is here for you” Michelle shook her head and then lifted her two arms in the air and automatically Misa turned around and bent down leaning forwards which allowed Michelle to jump on whilst wrapping her arms around her neck. “I know you’re a softie inside” Misa smiled and began to head home with Kate walking beside the sisters.
The winter night falls quickly, the beautiful blue sky quickly gets swallowed up by darkness the sun is now retreated and the moon now arises, the city becomes quiet with less cars running up each road. Have you ever wondered why people are less active in the dark? That is because they can never see what is hidden in the dark, they will never feel safe in the darkness that surrounds them. This is why there is a continuous battle between the light and darkness, because at certain times there will be one side that is dominant.
“The hunters are taking their actions again...Seems like I need to teach you a lesson” A slithering voice whispered at the top of building, hovering over the city scenery with the street lights all lit. “Creature of the light, how will you survive when the artificial light you create within the darkness” The silent wind wasps around the figure as he snaps his fingers and then disappear within the darkness.
Meanwhile Misa and Michelle arrives home, Michelle fell asleep on Misa’s shoulder, whilst slipping her shoes off Misa heads towards the sofa in the living room and carefully place Michelle on the sofa “Troublesome brat” Misa muttered lovingly and ruffled her hair. Misa then grabs a cover that was perfectly folded at the end of the sofa. Tossing it free Misa places it over Michelle’s body and began to head towards the kitchen to prepare some food.
As Misa grabs some meat from the fridge her phone suddenly began to ring, the caller Id was ‘Kate’ “Hello?” Misa sighed and bent her head sideward’s to keep the phone next to her ear whilst she takes some pasta from the cabinet as well. “I-I found proof! Vampire do exist! I will show you tomorrow! Kya!!!” Kate yelled down the phone which caused Misa to drop the phone on the floor, the phone battery then comes out of place. Misa sighs and shakes her head to get it straight “She too into fantasy, how can she prove vampires exist?” She mutters as she tries and place her battery back in the phone however after she done so the phone wouldn’t turn on. “Oh crap, it’s broke” Misa mutters, as she keep pressing the ‘on’ button. Behind her a shadow hovers over her back, a dangerous aura. Misa turns her head around in alertness after feeling an intruder’s presence. “I’m sure I just felt someone was behind me...” She mutters to herself and attempts one last try to turn her phone on and finally succeeds. “Finally” She sighs and tries to call Kate again however this time no one answers “She must’ve passed out from the excitement” Misa mutters and slips her phone back in the pocket and begins to carry on preparing food.
In the dark alley heavy breathing echoed, someone was running... running away from something. However the prey reached to a dead-end and had nowhere to turn to but death, the creature of the night stares at the prey with blood lust eyes as the prey began to shake in fear “Please s-spare me” It’s weak voice begged in anxiety however the predator just laughed and wrapped it’s icy cold hand around the prey’s neck “In the next life time try not to be born in the current bloodline you are in now. Heir of the lead hunters” The predator’s voice hissed and then silence taken over, the last silent moments of the prey’s life.
The evening begins to end as Misa puts Michelle back to bed again; it was great that it was the weekend now. She didn’t have to worry about picking her little precious sister up again whilst her daddy is at work. Just as Misa shut the door to her sister’s room another door opens. The front door, “Daddy!” Misa yells as she hurries down the stairs “How was work today?” She smiles however her smile didn’t last any longer as she saw the frown on her father’s face. “Daddy?” She asks but then her phone pocket vibrates and she quickly checks her text message and it was from Kate. ‘’Kate?’’ She whispers to herself and opens the message.
‘Run away... quickly’
“So you finally heard about Kate...” Misa’s dad frowns and hugs his daughter close to his chest “Daddy? What are you talking about?” Misa asks in confusion, “You don’t have to pretend anymore if you want to cry you can. You can’t do anything about her death” Misa gasps and breaks away from her father’s hug, “Who’s death? Mother’s? I got over that a long time ago” “No darling, Kate’s death it was just on at the radio news” Misa stand in shock as her hand begins to shake. She looked down at her phone again and looked at the last message Kate just sent her. “Kate is dead?”
