Hi I am Arabel (Pronounced Air-A-Bell) . I am nine and a half years old. I have caramel brown hair and dark sea blue eyes. I live in Germany. It is the year of 1890. I have two siblings. Ava and Ahren. Ava (pronounced ahh-vahh) is two and a half and has blond hair and blue eyes. and Ahren (pronounced air-en) is 13 and looks the same as me. That leaves me as a middle child. One day my Daddy and Mama decided that Ahren, Ava, and I had to move. I felt super sad because that meant I had to leave all of my friends. My dad and mom decided to move into a house that is at a countryside called Bavarian so that we would be safe from a war. We moved to a beautiful light blue house. It was two stories tall. I enjoyed being able to look out my window and see mama and Ava playing in the grass. Ahren always had friends over from the big yellow house. I made a friend super quick. Her name is Alyshia. She lives in a three story house that is on the left side of me. We would always hang out. A few months after moving in I realized that there was a girl living across the street in the big purple house. I immediately told Alyisha. We thought it was only adults there. I saw her in the window and saw that she had long blonde curly hair and light green eyes. I sat down on my fluffy purple carpet one day and decided that tomorrow I would go over there and introduce myself. I feel asleep that night wondering who this girl would be and what she would be like.
I woke up to the sun shining on my face through the curtains. I could smell breakfast but I didn't care about that right now, I wanted to meet the girl across the street. I got dressed in a light pink dress and decided to put my hair up in a high ponytail with a matching bow. As I walked downstairs mama asked me where I was going. I could tell that she had been giving Ava a bath because she had splash marks on her shirt, and smelled like baby wash. I told mama that I was going to walk down to the big purple house and meet the girl there. Mama told me that was a sweet idea and that I looked beautiful. Once I got to the kitchen to grab a banana I noticed my daddy was dressed for work. He beckoned me to come and sit on his lap. I still wanted to go and see the girl across the street but I guess she could wait a couple more minutes.
“I'm going to eat supper with my boss today” my daddy told me in his deep voice.
“I keep forgetting what you do as a job” I said giggling.
“I'm a Nazi, you silly little girl” he said tickling me. We hugged goodbye for the day and I grabbed my shoes to go outside. I walked out into the bright morning sunshine. Ahren had already beat me outside, because his friends Edward and Eloy were sitting on the bench chit-chatting. I walked across the street and paused on the doorstep. I cautiously rang the doorbell. A girl that looked to be my age opened the door. She was beautiful. She had on a light green dress.
“Hello” I said cautiously to the girl.
“Hi”. Her voice was sweet and gentle, but shy at the same time. I knew at that very instant that she was going to be my best friend also. I decided I would ask her what her name is.
“What is your name?”
“My name is Annamaria.”
“Do you have any nicknames?”
“Oh yes many. Like Anna, Ann, Maria, Mari, and Mar. My most common nickname is Anna, but I like any of them just as well.”
“Can I call you Marie?”
“That’s a new one but I like the sound of it just as much as any other. Where do you live?”
“I live right across from you.”
“Oh, Ok.”
We talked for a little more and decided that tomorrow we would meet down by the river behind my house, with Alyshia. I walked back to my house and told Mama all about Marie. Mama told me that it was okay to meet my new friend tomorrow. That night, laying in my pink zebra striped bed, I thought all about what it would be like to hang out with my newest friend. I know that I won’t be as lonely. Seeing my brother make friends so quickly made me jealous, but I knew that in a while I would find myself a nice friend.
