Once, long ago lived an old fairy. Unlike the other fairies, she was a hermit, and forgotten what it was like to go outside. After centuries, a maiden came along towards the fairy's tree. "Excuse me miss. I'm traveling, but I need to wait for my friends. You don't mind if I camp outside, do you? I promise I won't bother you. My name is Lillian."

The fairy agreed.

The maiden had a little tent outside if the tree, far enough so it wouldn't bother anyone. But every day, as the fairy looked out her window, the maiden was either meditating or doing yoga. The fairy, opening yer windows for the first time in a while, said "What are you doing?" The maiden would simply reply "Why, I'm just relaxing. I like to move with the breeze, and it's nice to breath in the fresh air."

The fairy, just noticing the calm, pleasant breeze, had closed her eyes. Indeed, the air was fresh and nice. It was cool in her house. "I'll just keep the window open." She said to herself.

Not so long after, another maiden came. "May I stay here, along with my friend to wait for the others?" She asked. "My name is Mary." The fairy hesitated this time. "Of course." She replied.

Now, while the first maiden meditated, the second would dance. She would dance next to a pond near the tree and playfully splash some of it at the tree's roots. Other times, she would sit on the edge and swing her feet in it. The fairy poked her head out if the window. "What are you doing?" She would ask. The maiden would reply with a laugh. "I'm just dancing. I like how the water is always changing and how cool and refreshing it is!"

Mary walked over to the window with a pot full of water. "Here! Take some, it's purified." She smiled. The fairy grabbed the pot and a cup. She easily poured the water into it and took a sip. She felt refreshed. She didn't drink water in a long time. "Thank you. If you could be a dear and fetch me some water every day?" Mary smiled again. "No problem, Miss!"

Once again, another maiden came. She greeted the fairy. "Hello, my name is Angelina, and I'm waiting for a friend. May I stay here until she comes?" The fairy quickly said yes.

Instead of dancing and doing yoga, she trained. She would punch a nearby tree or dodge splashes of water Mary would throw at her. She eventually became quite tough. "What are you doing?" The fairy asked. "I'm training, because I'd like to be like stone. Tough and almost impossible to break. I want to defend my friends as we travel. Watching Angelina's training motivated the fairy. She looked at her door. Why look at the world from one square, if she can go and experience it herself? She slowly, and nervously opened the door. The maidens greeted her. She admired Angelina's will and determination.

One more maiden came. She just needed to introduce herself. "I am Emily, and I would like to stay with my friends a bit longer to relax." The fairy welcomed her politely. Emily had an activity, and it was to fight alongside with Angelina. It was her dream to help others, and not to harm them. And to help later that night, she built a fire for her friends. "What are you doing?" The fairy asked once more. "I'm helping my friends." She invited the fairy to come over and to eat with them.

✴✴✴

They all had a great time together. The fairy asked them all one more question. "Of all people, why would you stay with me?" The girls looked at each other. "Because you needed company." It was then, as a reward for reminding the fairy of what she used to be, she granted them the powers of air, water, earth, and fire. Lillian would make a small tornado, so she could gloat and meditate, making it more relaxing. Mary would water the plants around her, so the fairy's garden would be lush again. Angelica would scare off thieves by lifting a giant boulder. They were scared of her enormous power, and always ran away. And Emily, would continue to warm her friends and cook for them.

After a while, they said their goodbyes to the fairy and traveled the rest of the world together.
