School was boring, So was life. I was stuck with the student routine: study, eat, sleep, repeat. I know Boring! I had no aim in life, elders's used to say that I will figure it out, but I don't know what to figure out. Well, one day after being pushed around at school I returned home. A huge Crowd had gathered around my house. I was shocked, what could have been the reason for a huge crowd?

Bad thoughts were over-flooding my brain, I stopped I could not believe what I saw, Guess what? My Big brother was getting married and the bride's side people had bought the "shagun!!" The brother who always had my back, who was my partner in crime whom I knew my whole life was finally getting married, Whoa !! You know what, Friends come and go but brothers stick together for life !!

I wanted to make my present felt so I went and stood there but no one noticed me. when they were handing over the 'shagun' I shouted "We don't take Dowry" Everyone started laughing. My brother walked towards me ad told, "Hmm, Which century are you living in? This is just shagun, nothing like a dowry, chill!" I slyly nodded "Okay!" He continued "Go change."

Well, lesson learnt was: You should know your culture and traditions thoroughly. I put on my best of clothes, wanted to shine in front of 'Bhabhi' I came down from my room to see the bride. I see her, she was pretty, I was proud of my bro. Her eyes were big, shiny, luminous, her nose was perfect size and shape. She was lean and perfect for my brother.

My eyes were turning towards my brother to congratulate him, wait a min, did i see that, that vicious beast. Oh my god! What the hell is she doing in my house. And, How dare she to stand next to my brother's soon-to-be bride! I ran towards her and asked "What do you think your doing here?"

Okay, Look Apoorva was my Best friend, Pritham's crush she lured him in and made him suffer, i'll tell this story some other time my gang hates her to the core!! Back to this story, She replied, " I am the Bride's sister, I should be the one questioning you!" I interrupted, "This is ma house, mi casa!!

I was looking into the huge eyes of hers while i was getting enlightened!! In ma mind i was like, 'Duh! her sister is marrying your brother.' We both at the same time "No-No-No!!" and then we started arguing continuously, all eyes were stuck on both of us. Our siblings TOGETHER, "cut it out!" Some auntie at the back told, "Their first good work together," there were high pitches of laughter. They both started blushing and we rolled our eyes out.

Those crazy traditions made me and her sit next to each other!!! That tradition should have been made illegal. She was carrying something her hair was disabling her sight. Well as a gentleman's duty, I stood in front of her tried not to look in her eyes, took the soft strand of her hair and pushed it back. I tried to make it least romantic but. I was slowly befriending her. That vicious beast was turning to a cute rabbit.

We had to hold the thali, her hand touched mine a spark of current passed, literally. Rest, She was pretty sweet, she laughed at all my silly jokes. The time passed very quick with her. I never really knew her and made her my enemy, two lessons in one day. Finally it was time to go.

Me and my brother were out, we said our goodbyes and they started walking towards their car. Apoorva turned her head towards me and smiled. My brother started nudging me and gave me the what-is-going-on-with-you-two look, I started blushing and told,"What? Nothing!!" and my whole body was waiting for the next function.

"The engagement is next week, just telling!" Told my teasing brother, I gave him don't-read-my-mind-look and told, "as if i care it's yours," He interrupted "Ya ya, during my engagement you will engage with someone else," and he started laughing. We play-punched each other and headed back home.
