Lover's Moon <3 (A Short Story)

There's a lover's moon tonight... As I look back over my shoulder... All the stars are shining bright... Just like the nights when I used to hold her... She's out there somewhere under the lover's moon ...

"Lover's Moon po yang tumutugtog diba?", tanong ng isang bata sabay turo sa cellphone ko na tumutugtog.

"Oo. Paano mo nalaman?", balik tanong ko naman sa kanya.

"Favorite po kasi yan ni Mommy.", sagot nito habang nilalaro ang mga pencils ko.

'Kaya pala...'

Nasa isang park ako non. Nagdodrawing ako kasi yun na din yung past time ko. The child beside me is wearing a white uniform... 'Hmm... Graduation?'

That moment, I looked at the child beside me and I saw his eyes. It was just like... hers...

"Sam, that is so girly. Delete that picture!", I shouted at her but obviously, she didin't stop from laughing.

"Ayoko nga! Cute nga eh! Stolen.", Samira or Sam laughed her heart out.

Samira is my classmate and best friend during high school years. Hindi ko din alam kung paanong ang isang maingay na katulad niya at tahimik na katulad ko ay nagsama. Basta isang araw na lang, I found myself asking for her help. Since then, we became inseparable. She helps me with my artworks and I help her with her studies. Parang friends with benefits lang.

"Tol, anong plano mo sa college?", tanong sakin ni Sam habang kumakain kami ng ice cream. It was March and graduation is near.

"I'm planning to take up Architecture. Ikaw?"

"Hindi ko pa alam eh."

Yeah, she's always like that. Easy-going. Parelax relax lang. I stared at her for a while and I realized how pretty she is. Kung hindi lang kami magkaibigan, I could actually fall for her.

Mayamaya lang, dumating na si Alice. Classmate din namin siya.

"Kayong dalawa, bakit ba kayo laging magkasama?", tanong niya habang hinahalo yung juice niya.

Tumingin ako kay Sam, nakayuko lang siya at nilalaro yung panyo niya. After a while, kami naman ni Alice nagkatinginan.

"Because we're friends. No, best friends actually.", ako na yung sumagot sa tanong ni Alice.

Napatingin sakin si Sam. There's something in her eyes. Was it doubt? I don't think so. Pero best friends naman talaga kami. Hindi ba kaibigan ang tingin niya sakin? Ok, we argue a lot of times but it didn't mean she is not my friend.

"What?", I asked her afterwards because she keeps on giving me that strange look.

"Wala naman. May ice cream ka sa mukha mo. Hey, una na ko. CR lang ako.", she smiled at me before leaving.

Umalis na si Sam at iniwan kami ni Alice sa canteen.

"She's out of this world boy. You got her.", bulong ni Alice bago umalis.

I don't understand. Did I do something wrong? What's wrong with these girls? Argh, erwan!

After that scenario, hindi na ko gaanong pinansin ni Sam. What happened? May problema ba sila ulit ng Mommy niya? Halos one week din kaming ganon kaya napilitan na kong kausapin siya. And the truth, I kinda miss her...

Nasa Art Room kami noon at nagliligpit.

"Sam, something wrong? You wanna talk about it?"
