"blow wind" said the tree, "i want to rustle my branches."

"no" said the wind, "i must keep a light breeze"

the tree begged the wind to blow hard so the trees branches would rustle, but the wind continuously said no. this went on for many many days and many nights. the tree got so sad, they started crying, their leaves falling from the branches, one at a time. the wind still said no even after seeing the effect it had on the tree. the tree still begged for the wind to rustle their branches, as hurt as they were.

the tree begged to the very last minute it lost its last leaf, being so sad it was only a whisper. after days of silence, the wind became worried, so used to the begging, it was eerie not having the trees voice in the air. the wind called to the tree, panicked "tree! tree! speak to me, im sorry! ill blow for you! ill rustle your branches!"

The tree was so sad that they cant even speak. The wind begged the tree, just like the tree begged the wind. This went on for many days and many nights before the tree started believing the wind. The tree started growing their leaves back, one by one, sprouting as the tree became more hopeful.

Finally, the tree was so happy and hopeful they shouted back to the wind, "im here, wind! Please rustle my branches now!"

But the wind became doubtful, and responded with hesitance "i dont know, tree. Im not sure i should blow so your branches would rustle."

The tree begged the wind, saying that they became so hopeful, only to be let down.

The tree begged for many days and many nights, and just like the first time, they lost their leaves and became very depressed. Just like the first time, the wind became very worried.

This pattern continues every year.

That is why the leaves fall off during autumn.
