CHAPTER 4

Niall POV

I was so nervous. Her lips and mine were millimeters apart. I could smell her strawberry shampoo. I was leaning in that last extra bit before our lips would meet when Madison, a girl I had met in town the other day came screeching out of the bedroom.

“Nialler! Baybeee!!! Where are you!? Who was at the door my little sexgod! WOW you really rode me hard last night! Ahahahaha! NIALLER! Wheeerrree arrree yoouu?!” Oh my god! NO! I was finally going to kiss those beautiful lips.

“Oh” she stopped mid sentence and stared at Charlie. “Who’s this my little love muffin?” she questioned me.

“Ummmm…” I couldn’t think of what to say. After Charlie had stood me up I was in a real low place so I just picked up whatever trash I could find.

“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON NIALL!? WHO IS THIS?!” Charlie yelled at me. She had a whimper in her voice and I could tell she was hurt.

“Charlie, this isn’t what it looks like…honestly! I mean…” What could I say?

I stood shocked standing at the door watching one of the most beautiful things in the world walk away from me. What was I doing? After I shut the door I gave myself a pep talk.

C’mon Niall! You like her and, from what she said, she likes you! You need to straighten yourself out and think, are you going to let a goddess walk out of your life? NO!

After my little self-motivational talking I excused myself from Madison and went after Charlie. After pushing my way through the shrubs I saw Charlie walking in the field. I jogged up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. When she turned around I saw her eyes were red, and I realized that she had been crying. She wiped her eyes.

“ What do you want Niall?”

“I want to explain myself!” I defended “I let you explain yourself now let me have my turn!” she looked beaten.

“Go ahead” she said bitterly

“Listen, I really liked you…I mean…I still do” I smiled but I didn’t receive one in return so I kept talking. “And after you stood me up me I thought I was nothing and I resorted to anything I could find just to try and make me feel better. Tell me you understand?”

She looked at the ground then gave a sigh.

“Sure, I forgive you” she said and gave a short smile. It was then followed by some awkward small talk. I was glad we were friends again and hopefully something more than that soon. We both sat down together and I looked at her. We started talking and we just had fun. I didn’t know what I was thinking but I had to just kiss her. I slowly leant in and would have kissed her if her head hadn’t turned away.

“What are you doing?” she asked

“I uhhh…I thought-“

“Niall, I know we were going to but I don’t think it would be right, given the circumstances.” I nodded solemnly. I was so embarrassed. “ I actually need to go anyway so I’ll maybe see you around? Bye” and with that she was gone.

Charlie POV

I couldn’t believe he thought he could just do that after what I’d discovered this morning. What did he think? That I would fall into his arms? What did that flimsy girl have anyway? I couldn’t believe he slept with her! It made me so aggravated. I entered the house and sat in front of the TV with Lily, she was engaged in the riveting adventures of Dora the Explorer. I sighed and reached into my pocket and grabbed out my I pod touch. I flipped through my apps and tried to distract myself with a game. I was so bored and agitated just sitting there doing nothing, I needed to move, to do something. I went to go find mum. When I finally found her she was outside putting some washing on the line.
