Jessica's P.O.V
I woke up this morning in my small cramped room. My room was painted white at first but its so old it looks baige. The paint is peeled off in some areas and you can see the old wallpaper. The floor is always dirty. I have to sweep everywhere in the house, but I can't sweep in my room. It doesn't make sense but if I say anything back to my old Aunt Marilyn, I will have to clean in the most disgusting places. All I have in my room are my clothes that aren't much, my bed, a small dresser that I keep my clothes in, and my moms old black and red dress with red heels.
I got up and did my bed and walked to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and fixed my long blonde hair. All of a sudden, I heard a pounding on the door.
"Would you hurry up in there Jessica! Its nou have like you have anywhere important to be!" said my cousin Liliana.
I quickly finished brushing my teeth and walked out the bathroom. But as I was walking, Liliana put her foot out purposly to trip me.
"Watch where you're going cluts."
"But your the one..."
"Shut it before I tell Mom that you were trying to trip me."
"You tripped me!"
"Whats that, yeah like she would ever believe your side of the story."
With that she walked into the bathroom and slammed the door. I got up, dusted my self off and walked downstairs to have breakfast. I got downstairs and saw a bunch of food on the table. I was about to sit down when my other cousin interupted me.
"Excuse me, but this is where sophisticated people sit, not a dirt bag like you" said Amelia.
She pushed me off the chair and gave me a peice of bread, waffle, milk, and a fork.
"Go eat in that room of yours."
"Can I have syrup?"
"Can I marry Prince Charming?"
I walked upstairs to my room. I got inside my room and sat my plate and cup on my dresser. I ate my food and walked back downstairs to put my plate in the sink. Then I was about to head back upstairs but when I turned around my Aunt was in front of me.
"Not so fast Jessica. You still have chores like everyday."
She handed me a list with chores I had to do.
Chores for Jessica:
1. Wash the dishes
2. Clean the oven and stove
3. Wash the dog
4. Clean the bathroom
5. Sweep and mop the living room
6. Fold the laundry
Great! Im not going to have anytime to do the things I want to do! I was hoping today I could hang out with my bestfriend Talia. We were gonna go to the movies. Talia was the only person who really knew what was happening at home. So whenever we go to the movies she always offers to pay, even though I always tell her she doesn't have to.
I always wanted to get a job so I can buy more clothes and food and things that I wanted. But I never have anytime to even look for a job since im always cleaning around the house. I had an idea. I could wake up really early, like at 6:00 and have Aunt Marilyn leave the list of chores on the fridge so I can get up and do my chores and finish early.
If i finish early then that means I would have time to work or hang out with Talia.
"Hey Aunt Marilyn, could you leave the list of chores on the fridge the night before so I can get up and get straight to cleaning?"
"Yeah whatever."
Thank god it was summer. So that means I could only work in the summer. When school starts I wont be able to work anymore so im going to have to work ALL summer. I turned back around to the sink and set the list of chores on the table. I washed the dishes, and cleaned the stove and oven.
Next I had to wash the dog.
"Charile come here boy!"
The dog came running to me and started jumping. I petted him and led him to the back yard. Charlie was a golden retriever. He was only 5 months old. I grabbed the hose and grabbed his doggy shampoo. After about an hour of trying to wash the dog I ended up sucessfully washing him, but soaking wet.
I tried to squeeze out as much water as possile and grabbed my towel and ran upstairs to take a shower. I took a shower, washed my hair and got dressed into a pair of black skinny jeans, and a t-shirt. I went back and looked at my list. I had to clean the bathroom.
I finished cleaning the bathroom at like 3:00. Then I had to sweep and mop the living room, which took me a half hour. Lastly I had to fold the laundry. I finished that at about 5:00. I still had time to go look for a job. I grabbed my bike and headed downtown.
I went in about 5 stores to see if they needed hiring. Finally I got to the coffee shop and they said they needed someone to work the cashier. They asked me a few questions and said I got the job, Tomorrow I had to be there at 1:00 and I would get off at 6:00.
I walked outside and I saw that my bike was missing. That was just great! I had to walk home now. It took me about 20 minutes to walk home. With my bike I would have gotten there in 10 minutes. I looked at the time. It was already 7:00.
I went to my room and went to bed since I had to wake up at 6:00 tomorrow.
