As Shadow entered the house and shook off the lingering cold, his mind was full of Nanita's story. He wondered long and hard about the old hag and what her true motive was behind helping Leon.

Thoughts continued swirling through his head as his mom called from the kitchen, "So how was the storytelling?"

"It was great. The storyteller's name is Nanita.".

His mom walked into the room followed by his dad. His dad sat down and asked, "So what was her story?". So Shadow told them what he could he remember and after he finished there was a moment of silence.

His mom finally spoke,"We will have to go listen to her tomorrow night, we can send Liz to the neighbors.".

His dad added, "It was a brave decision, starting with a story about humans, especially in an area so close to the unknown. And she's a woman no less. I would like to meet this storyteller. She seems to be the breath of fresh air that this town needs," he chuckled.

Shadow rolled his eyes at his parents.  "I'm going to bed, I'll see you in the morning."

He gave them both hugs then headed off to his room.  He quickly changed into his night clothes and washed up before slipping into bed.  Slowly but surely, his eyes grew heavy as he gazed outside his window at the falling snow until he finally drifted into the arms of sleep.

He was walking in the woods as the sunlight fell upon him.  He could hear the woodland creatures rustling about in the underbrush and a pair of very unhappy squirrels chattering at each other from above.  It was a serene day; the weather was perfect.

As Shadow made his way through the trees, he could hear a voice off to his left.  Quietly he made his way toward the voice, trying not to step on any branches.

As he got closer, he recognized it to be a female voice singing in some language he didn't understand.  All the more curious, he made his way forward until he was at the edge of a small clearing.

In front of him, by a stream across the clearing, was a beautiful young woman, sitting on a rock and singing while she made a crown of flowers.

She had long, brown curls that reached to her waist and brown eyes that shone with merriment.  Her cheeks had a faint blush and her full lips were pulled back in tiny smile as she sang.  She seemed to be about average height, and she had a willowy, elegant figure.  She wore a frilly white dress that reached to the ground and was spread around her, making her appear as if she was floating on a cloud.

He stepped out into the clearing, making her look up.  She smiled at him and beckoned him over.  Slowly he walked until he was in front of her.

She looked at him innocently and asked, "Do you like my crown?  I made it so that I may wear it for you."

He felt himself blush and quickly replied, "It is a very beautiful crown, but it is no match for the wearer."  Pleasure welled up inside of him as he saw her blush and look down at her toes.

She whispered, "You are very kind, thankyou.".

"The pleasure is all mine."

They fell into a comfortable silence.  Then after a little while, the girl looked up again and asked, "You will never leave me, will you Shadow?"
