Chapter 1: Lexi Gilbert

~Lexi's POV~

I jolted awake to the loud ringing of my alarm. I couldn't bear to move from the warmth of my bed, but my annoyance built after ten minutes of it ringing nonstop. I muttered to myself; "Only one more day till the weekend, you can sleep then." With that thought, I slid out of bed, my eyes half closed and glued shut with sleep. 

As I stumble past the mirror above the dresser, my gaze falls on my hair where the copper curls resemble something of a birds nest. For a second time, I clenched my teeth together and reassured myself that; "Its only one more day till the weekend." I headed to my shower that I was sure could lighten my mood and would make me look more... well, alive.

I let the heated water pour over my body, basking in the pleasure and ignoring the world. That lasted for 30 seconds before I began to think about the day ahead of me. This has been my first week back at school since my mother and father were killed in a car accident in the winter. I have gone this past week without crying, I can handle another day. I know I need to be strong, for Elena and Jeremy. As the oldest, I have always felt as if I need to protect them and look after them, especially now that Mum and Dad are gone. 

The weather was forecasted to be sunny, so when I got out of the shower, I put on a pair of light washed ripped jeans with a white shirt and the school senior jersey. After getting a brush through my hair, I styled it in a fishtail braid. Now that my eyes were open, I could admire their colour - a mix of blue and green. It was the thing that I loved the most about my appearance. I applied a light coat of mascara to my eyes, making them stand out more than before. 

As I left my room, I took a few steps so I was standing outside Elena's room. Grabbing the handle, I swang the door open and screamed "GOODMORNING SISSY!" Elena let out a small gasp and jumped, dropping the book in her hands. She held her chest and gave a sigh of relief and said in a whiny voice; "Why do you always do that, you know I get scared easily." I replied with a sheepish smile, "Because your reaction is the best." She laughed as she picked up her diary from the ground.  As twins, we have many similar features aside from hair which is a deeper brown and her eyes which are a greener shade than mine. The only other difference between us is her personality. She is kinder and softer than I am, yet she is clearly a Gilbert as she is stubborn and strong, with a fire inside that can never be burned out. 

The scent of pancakes hit my nose and my stomach grumbles as a result of it. Alongside Elena, I strode down the stairs and entered the kitchen, revealing the sizzling of pancakes and aunt Jenna making coffee. She saw us enter and said "Goodmorning girls. Would you like some coffee?" I quickly nodded and replied "Of course I would, I don't know what I'd do without it." She let out a small laugh and continued to make breakfast. We sat in the kitchen eating while each of us expressed our dread for the day ahead. Soon, it was time to head to school. I yelled at Jeremy from the front door saying "Come on Jer, we're gonna be late." "Alright, Alright I'm coming" he replied from the top of the stairs. I said goodbye to Jenna and jumped into Elena's car to start the long drive to school.

"It's 8:29 guys were just gonna make it!" says Elena as we pull into the school car park and peer into the school. It was Elena's and I's first day as a Senior and Jeremy's first day as a sophomore. A big part of me longs for this to be over but a small part of me was excited to be away from home.

Hi guys, this is my first book on Wattpad so I am still learning how to use it. I have gotten some of my ideas of stories from other Vampire Diaries books and I am still reading some now. I highly recommend another great Vampire Dairies fan fiction book that is called 'You Make Me Feel Human' by 3mmaRawrs.
