Flashback

I was holding the roses tightly in my hands. It had been two years.

My first love, my first kiss, and my first boyfriend. That's was probably why he was so special to me.

He has kept up with me for two years. Two whole years and we were still going strong.

I looked at my watch, it read 11:54 pm. Six more minutes until our anniversary, six more minutes until I surprised him.

I quickly texted Maria, my best friend, but didn't expect her to reply. She told me she was going to bed early.

I rummaged through my pocket to get the keys to Delton's house. He had given it to me after a year of dating, one year ago. It seems like a long time.

I didn't want to wake Delton's parents, so I entered the house quickly and quietly.

I looked at the time in my phone, 11:59 one more minute. I rushed up the stairs and stood in front of Delton's closed door. Gripping the doorknob, until my knuckles turned white.

To say I was nervous was an under exaggeration.

I looked down at my dimly lit phone screen, waiting for the the numbers to hit twelve.

I readjusted the flowers in my arm, and brushed my hair out of my face.

I examined my red dress. If a stranger looked at me in this moment, they would most likely see a girl coming from a party. With my hair done, and my legs shaved.

Tonight was a special night.

With one last glance at the time, it read the time I wanted to see. Twelve.

I twisted the doorknob at the speed of light, and swung the door wide open.

However, the scene in front of me wiped the smile right off my face. My heart caught in my throat.

Delton laid on his bed, shirtless, alongside a girl.

"Surprise." I whispered.

Delton looked up at me, and his face masked an emotion I dreaded to see. It held guilt.

I wanted this all to be a dream, I wanted this to be a mistake, I wanted to know that things would go back to how they were in the past.

But I knew, this was my last straw.

"Ember, hi, what are you doing here?" Delton questioned. Trying to hide the girl behind his frame.

He was too late to do so, I saw her, with him.

I saw my heart break into a million pieces right in front of me.

The worst part of all of this was the fact that the girl hiding behind Delton was her. My best friend.

The one I trusted the most. Maria sat there astonished.

"Happy two year anniversary to you too Delton." I mumbled.

I turned on my heels, and walked out of the same door I entered through. He chased after me.

"Listen Ember, it was mistake, I promise it won't happen again. I was feeling lonely, and she.... She was just there." Delton urged.

I stopped dead in my tracks, which happened to be the bottom of the stairs.

I turned my front to him. Gripping the roses in my right hand, I swung.
