Alice sat on the bottom bunk bed with his back touching the cold wall, knowing that it was not his. He stared at the blank white paper on his lap with a pen, ready to scratch some alphabets with his right hand. his mind was full of thoughts about things he had experienced with his 13 years roommate, Jack. The memories continuously flowed that he was not aware when a tall, black haired juvenile entered the room.
"What are you doing in my bed?"
Alice jumped a bit and tried to hid his paper, even though there was nothing to hide since he had not writen a single word on it.
"I was just, umm, you know, uh.."
Jack raised his brows,
"You're not drawing some nude were wolf lady, aren't you?" He asked as he took off his dark coloured coat and hung it in the wardrobe.
"What? No! Don't compare me to a perverted like you!" Alice blushed and sat on the edge of the bed, ready to leave his roommate's nest, that was before Jack calmly sat next to him and patted his shoulder.
"Don't be ashamed, we're boys anyway."
"Ha! Really funny!" Alice brushed off his best friend's hand and looked away.
It's not easy to act like there was nothing and stay calm when the closest person you have was as hot as Jack, it always made Alice feel weird. Something he had no idea about what it really was.
Jack looked at his friend with hardly any emotion, like his usual face always been. he gaped his mouth a bit but closed it without saying anything. Still, his blue eyes were locked on the red haired boy.
"Well then," Jack said after a brief moment,
"It's already late, we should sleep now." He continued while he took most of his clothing, except his black trousers, leaving his well-built upper body exposed.
He has been maintaining that habit since the first night he had the smaller ginger as his roommate, which is quite odd, since they live in Ackenstain, one of the few small village located on Vallertrad Mountain that mostly had low temperature all year. Alice unconsciously followed his body, tracing every flexed muscle with his maroon orbs. He always wonder how his masculine companion could possessed such perfect body. And scars. Those scars, especially the major one, that stretched from his right shoulder to the middle of his back. It had been there since the first time he saw Jack, and it looked much bigger when they're younger. Alice looked away just in time when Jack turned to face him again.
"Now move, midget. I need a good night rest." Jack said teasingly, successfully boiled the smaller guy and made him move.
It was true that Alice was leaner than most of the boys in the orphanage, in fact, aside from his short haircut and his flat chest, he looked just like a girl. Soft, fluffy ginger hair, maroon eyes, fair skin, long eyelashes, and he was only 5'2" ft. Not to mention that he had health issue.
And to top it off, he was matched with Jack, one of the manliest, good looking male, the dream of all the girls there. Jack was far from kind, he never really care about other people and what they think about him. Jack was older than Alice, probably three or four years. He had pitch black hair that collided with his bright blue orbs. Usually, he would just ignored everyone with his expressionless face, but once he did something, he could pull all the attention from anyone. The pair successfully made a strange bond, they were inseparable, which highlighted Alice's fragile figure every time they are together, and unfortunately, it happened most of the time.
"Shut up! You will regret saying those when I grew up to be a tall handsome man."
Alice grumbled and climbed to the top bed and threw his face to the pillow. He could feel his face and ears getting warm when he imagined his roommate, laying bare chested underneath him. He gritted his teeth and tried his best to ignore it by shutting his eyelids as hard as he could until he started to see stars. Then the lights goes off, that notified him it was already 10 PM. Alice sighed and decided to sleep for real, but right when he drifted to the dream realm, he faintly heard Jack's voice, which in the morning will make him wonder was it just a dream or did it really happened.
"You're fine this way."
