A tap on my cheek woke me from my slumber. "Andy! Andy! Santa was here and he brought lots of gifts for us!" My little sister leaned over me as I laid in my bed, forgetting it was Christmas morning. I grabbed my bed sheets and threw them off my body and jumped up. Me and Mia tip toed down the hallway trying not to wake my parents as it was 5:00 in the morning and if they knew we were up this early they would kill us.
"Should we wake Thomas up?" Mia whispered. "No way, he'll kill us too, he's 15 years old, he doesn't even believe in Santa".
My eleven year old self was almost convinced Santa was real and the fact that my older brother didn't, upsetted me."But we can't open the presents without him or he'll get real mad".
"Your right.. You go wake him"
"Why do I gotta wake him, I'm only 5!"
We were both afraid to go and wake him because we were afraid of upstairs. Me, Mia and my mom and dad all slept downstairs, but Thomas slept upstairs, because there wasn't enough rooms down here, and he wanted more "privacy".
"Fine we will wake daddy and he'll go up to wake Thomas".When we were all awake and downstairs, we opened the wrapped gifts that laid on the floor in our living room. Our mom filmed us as we opened them. Thomas got a his first mobile phone, the first one I've ever seen. Mia got a doll and I got makeup, I'd asked for it specifically because all my friends were wearing it and I was the only one who didn't have any. My best friend Emily had showed me how to put it on using her makeup, but I wanted my own.
"Look what I got mom" I hugged her tightly.
"Maybe you will be a professional one day". She had always gave me hope for the future, and our bond was different from any mother and daughter I have ever met.Later on that day the rest of my family had joined for Christmas dinner. All my aunts uncles and cousins on my moms side. I had a blast showing all my relatives what I got from Santa and seeing what they got.
One of my closest cousins Cody, he got a football, so me and him went outside and kicked it to each other. It was a breezy day, it wasn't snowing like it does most years. I stood at one side of the garden and he stood at the other. He accidentally kicked the ball too high and it went over my head into our next door neighbours garden.
"Way to go dumbass" I laughed. "Be right back" I ran through the kitchen passed all my family."Andy, where are you going?" My dad asked me. "I'm just going to Mr. Connors house to get Cody's football".
"Ok, be safe".
"Of course".
If this was any other day he would come with me, but he was hosting a party, so he was a bit busy.
I ran out the front door and sprinted across to Mr. Connors house and knocked on the door.
"Excuse me Mr. Connor, my cousins ball was accidentally kicked into your garden, do you mind getting it for me?" I asked politely.Mr. Connor was an old man, around 70. He lived by himself because his wife died a couple years back. But he was a nice man, although my family thought he was a bit grumpy ever since his wife died. He had always told me I would always brighten his day because I reminded him of his daughter that was taken when she was my age. I don't know much about that story, I only over heard people talking about it. But that happened a long long time ago.
"Don't worry Andy, I'll get it for you".
"Thanks Mr. Connor" I thanked.
"How many times do I got to tell you, call me Henry". He smiled. He turned around and went to his back garden to get the ball.
As I stood waiting. I noticed a red car parked across the street, it was familiar. I remember seeing it almost everywhere I went the last few days. When Henry came back I couldn't help myself but ask if he recognised the car.
"Henry, have you ever seen that car before?"
"Well, it was parked in the same spot the other day. Then it left again and it came back this morning, it's been sitting there since then""Is there someone in it" I asked.
"Well, I presume so, I can't really tell though".
"He must be a silly man, sitting in his car on Christmas Day, he should be with his family" I laughed.
"Some people don't have family" he handed me back the ball gently. I stared at him for a moment in awe. "Bye Mr. Connor.. I mean.. Henry" he smiled at me and closed the door.As soon as the door shut, the red car had started its engine. I stood still for a moment and watched as it slowly drove out of my sight. I then walked a little faster out to the path with the ball in my hand.
Within seconds. The same car came with a great speed from behind me and pulled up right next to me. In fear, my body froze. He swung the door open and grabbed me. He then put me into the back of his car, on the floor, face down. I was so shocked that I forgot to scream. As I laid on the floor in the car, I realised what just happened. I was sore and felt paralysed. I was so frightened that I didn't know whether to speak or not. So I just laid there with my eyes squeezed shut.We drove for about an hour before he took me out of the car and carried me into a forrest. It was so dark that I couldn't see his face. Everything had happened so fast that, back home, I didn't even get to see what he looked like. He carried me with his cold hands as I pretended to be unconscious.
I had a strong feeling that something real bad was about to happen, something like I'd seen in a movie that I wasn't suppose to be watching. When the bad man does stuff to the girl that she doesn't want. I didn't know what was happening but I knew he was hurting her.He lay me down on the leaves as he opened the door of an abandoned warehouse right next to us. I took it as an opportunity, when he tuned around to open the gate, I got up and started to run. I ran as fast as I could, the second I started running I heard the sound of him chasing me, that just mad me run faster than I've ever ran before. I wasn't getting anywhere, there was no exit from the forrest, it was just tree, trees and more trees. I then seen headlights to a car that had pulled up, I was so relieved that I wasn't looking at the ground and I tripped over a twig. Realising I was caught, I screamed.
"Help!! Help me please help me" I screamed from the top of my lungs. But before I could continue screaming, he had hit me on the head with something. And that's the last thing I remember about Christmas Day.
