This is gonna be the first short story in this book. That just means that it's gonna be a couple chapters long.

______

Alicia looked over today's paperwork; she wasn't going to finish. She let out a weary sigh and looked over at the clock. The clock hit 7 o'clock a while ago. The daycare in the cozy town Rose was going to close in an hour. There was no way she'd make it in time. Being the hard-hearted man he was, the boss wouldn't let Alicia leave early. Not to mention her editorial was due by the end of the week. Everyone was pretty much gone by now, except for the head editor. He always stayed overtime to get an extra move on his work. Alicia mused on whether she should ask him or not. She wasn't afraid of rejection. Alicia had been through many things, so something like rejection by her superior wouldn't affect her. She just didn't want to bother him while he was hard at work.

She found herself looking at him for much longer than is socially acceptable. "How much longer are you going to keep gawking at me?" His deep voice startled her, and she looked away quickly. Eventually she stood up confidently and walked over to his desk.

"Actually, I was wondering if you could do me a little favor?" Alicia tapped her fingers on the edge of his desk.

"Get your dirty fingers off my desk." The scowl on his face only increased as he talked. She slowly retracted her hand from his desk and continued.

"I was going to ask if you could cover for me while I leave for a second."

"Tch, I'm leaving anyways." He said as he gathered his belongings.

"Oh well then can you please pick up my kid from the daycare on your way home." He looked at her with the  same indifferent look in his eyes.

"Why would I do that?" He finally asked as he made his way to the door.

"There's no one else who can and he's going to get scared if no one comes to pick him up." She heard him scoff as if he couldn't care less.

"Please." Alicia said as she caught up to him. "Just this once." She plead to him. "Come on Levi, you can't be that heartless can you?" He suddenly stopped and turned around.

"Will you stop annoying me if I do?" She quickly nods and he keeps walking.

"I'll drop your brat off once I get him." A smile made its way to her face.

"Alright, thanks a bunch Levi."

"Tch."

She sat down and continued her work. Just a couple more pages and I'll be done, she thought to myself.

"Ah, I didn't think anyone was still in here." She looked up to see the editor-in-chief, Erwin.

"Oh yeah, just finishing some work that's all." She played with the pen in her hand before throwing down onto the table. Alicia stretched out her arms and let out a yawn.

"Why don't you head home? You deserve it. In all honesty, I'm sure you can finish that editorial before Friday comes around." He chuckles before leaving with a simple goodbye.

She thought about it for a while before deciding to head home. Glancing at the clock and she assumed that Levi hadn't arrived at the day care yet. Almost as if on cue, she receive a call from him.

"Hello."

"You better get your ass over here."

"Woah, are you with Nathan, watch your language."

"They won't let me take your brat. If you don't get over here, I'm leaving him."

"Okay, okay, I'm coming."
