(A/N: Okay so I'm not a very good writer but I'm going to give it a try!)

"Jesse, hurry up! We're gonna be late!" I screamed to him from the lawn. Man, he can be so darn lazy sometimes! "I'm coming! Just give me a minute!" he screamed back at me and I frowned. Knowing him he would be down in like an hour. I just dropped my super large, overstuffed suitcases on the lawn and lay down in the sharp green grass, feeling the little blades prick my skin. I looked up at the sky and watched an airplane flying across the blue sky and the streaks that it left behind. I closed my eyes for a while blocking the sun out and I just listened to Seattle waking up. Cars zooming by, birds twittering, peopling talking, but then I heard a loud bang and I jolted into an upright position to see Jesse behind me at the top of the stairs.

"Sorry," he said, and I saw one of his huge suitcases like mine at the bottom of the stairs. I laughed at him and stood up to pick up his suitcase off the floor while he came down the stairs. "I'm ready now!" he said and I pulled out my phone to look at the time. I shoved it in front of his face and he jerked his head back trying to see what I was showing him.

"You are exactly 24 minutes past a minute," I said and he just chuckled at me.

"Well, I don't wanna forget anything!" he said and picked up his suitcases. "Let's stick it all in the car and say bye to my mom," he said and I nodded before walking to his old Jeep Cherokee. This is like my favorite car ever. It's perfect for a road trip and sitting on the hood to watch drive-in movies or just talk. After a lot of pushing and pulling, we finally got the suitcases into the back of his car and walking back into his house to say bye to his mom. Jesse's mom, Lucy, is the best. She's easily like 3 feet tall. Ok, maybe she's just like 4 foot 6. But anyway, she's the sweetest person ever and she is so loving and caring. When we got back inside Jesse's house she was in the kitchen putting a lid over a container that held a ton of her amazing chocolate chip cookies.

"Alright, so I made you both a container of cookies because I know how much you both like them," she said and handed them to Jesse. I saw the sad look on her face and felt bad for leaving her for the whole summer.

"Thanks mom," Jesse said and he wrapped his arms around her and his large muscular body completely enveloped her petite little figure. It was kind of bizarre that she was that short and yet he's this 6 foot tall and all muscles man. I never met his dad, but then again I don't think I really want to if he's even bigger than Jesse.

"Now you two be super careful. And don't drive when it's really dark because that's how a lot of accidents happen," she said as she walked over and gave me a tight hug.

"Bye Lucy," I said and she smiled up at me.

"We will mom. Don't worry about us," Jesse said and he kissed her cheek. "We'll see you after summer mom," Jesse said and he put his on the small of my back which sent sparks rushing all through my body. I know what you're thinking but no, we're not dating. We've been best friends for as long as I can remember but nothing more. I've liked him since high school but that's as far as things have gone. I don't think he likes me in that way and I know it's stupid but I'm afraid that if I talk to him about how I feel then I'll ruin our friendship. And that's the last thing I ever want to do. But since we're going to San Diego to his friends beach house for the whole summer with his friends maybe something will change. "I love you mom," he said and he smiled at her.

"I love you too Jesse," she said. "Now get going! The boys won't wait forever!" she said and ushered us out the door. That's another thing. These friends of his who own the beach house are all boys. 5 of them and their girlfriends which makes me kind of scared to go on this trip. I won't know anybody but Jesse and what if they don't like me? I think Jesse saw my that I was a little scared because he stopped right in front of me and crouched down. I laughed at him and quickly hopped on his back. He stood up straight and started running as fast as he could to the car. I was laughing histarically and he was laughing with me as he started spinning and jumping. What was I thinking? Jesse is all I need to enjoy this summer. Even if his friends don't like me Jesse still does. When we got to the car he set me down and opened my door for me bowing dramatically as if he was a servant. "Madam," he said in a joking posh voice. I stood up straighter and held my head high as I curtsied jokingly and climbed into his car. He ran around to the driver side and climbed in crazily making the whole car shake. I laughed at him again and he looked at me before starting the car. "Ready for an awesome summer?" he asked me and I pretended to pet my imaginary beard.

"Yes I am!" I said excitedly.

"Alrighty then!" he said and put his foot on the gas pedal and we were off to San Diego.
