Jane Smith is a fifteen year old girl. She has long, curly black hair, purple glasses, a round nose, thin and long lips. Her icy blue eyes are almond shaped.

Its her first day of highschool at the Destin County Highschool. She has been lying in bed, awake, for almost three hours, contemplating the day ahead.

'What if nobody likes me? What if I fail all my classes? What if I make a fool of myself?' She thinks to herself. She had been waiting for this day ever since she was a kindergartener but now that the day is finally here, she can't help but be extremely nervous.

Jane can hear her mother, Carol Smith, in the bathroom beside Jane's bedroom.

Carol has long blonde hair that she keeps in a neat bun. Carol is in her mid-forties and she certainly looks it. Her once flawless face is now covered in wrinkles and age lines. She has thick and plump lips, a round nose, and icy blue eyes.

'Might as well get up....' Jane thinks to herself, still very nervous.

Jane gets out of her single, wooden bed that is surprisingly comfy and goes to her drawers. She picks out a plaid, button up, green shirt and some navy jeans that are torn at the knees and puts them on. She puts on her favourite fuzzy, purple socks and then puts on her pink converse shoes.

Jane puts her hair up in a pony tail and starts taking deep breaths, trying to calm herself down.

Carol opens the door to Jane's bedroom.

"I see you're already up. Why are you up so early?" Carol asks, her left eyebrow raising up on her forehead. Jane, on a normal school day, usually sleeps in as long as possible so its very unusual to see her up at 6:00 in the morning.

"Couldn't sleep much. I was too nervous about today, heck I still am." Jane answers, obviously trying to get her mother to help her calm down.

Carol gives in and says, "Its okay to be nervous for the first day of highschool, but don't be TOO nervous. You don't want your nervousness taking over your mind, making you only able to the ways everything could go wrong. I let that happen to me my first day of highschool and I ended up thinking that a guy named Rob Parkson was going to stuff everyone's heads down a toilet."

Jane nods, only taking in the part of it being okay to be nervous and not to be TOO nervous.

Jane rushes into the highschool, not wanting to be late even though she's as early as it's possible to be.

She runs into the gymnasium to find that her best friend, Edward 'Eddy' Jackson, is already there.

Eddy's once long hair had been cut short during the summer and his hair is now longer in the front, but short in the back and sides. His hair is black in colour and his eyes are a dark chocolate brown. His skin is an olive colour and his nose in thin, but long and round at the tip. His bottom lip is full while is top lip is thin and his lips are long. His eyes are almond shaped.

Eddy and Jane had been best friends since kindergarten and have been almost inseperable since they met. They had spent almost every last summer together, going to beaches and watching romance movies.

"Hey Jane!" Eddy exclaims, running up to Jane and hugging her tightly.

"Sheesh Eddy, you act as though you ain't seen me in months. We just saw each other yesterday, we even watched a romance film together!" Jane states, shaking her head, but still hugging back.

"Yeah I know, but any time spent without you is an enternity for me. Best friend." Eddy says, breaking the hug apart.

"And any time spent with you is like living ten different lives at once, best friend." Jane tell him, smiling widely.

While Jane and Eddy are having this friendly encounterment, more and more students are filing into the gymnasium. Kids from Northwood Middle are here, and its very easy to tell witch are from Northwood Middle because they all have a similar aura around them. Kids from Destin County Middle are also here.

Jane grew up with the kids from DCMS, but Eddy grew up with the kids from NMS.

Suddenly the principle, Helen Pattinson, steps up to the microphone on the stand.

She clears her throat, which Jane is pretty sure everyone in the entire school heard because the microphone made the sound louder.

"Now now, please, take your seats everyone! You will get your schedules very soon, but after I give you all welcome wishes!" Helen says, enthusiastically.

Jane hears groans and people yelling "Booo!"

Jane turns to one of the people yelling Boo that is sitting next to her.

"Be respectful, city kid." She states, glaring at the kid.

The kid looks back at Jane, sneering. Her hair is long and curly and brown, her nose thick and round, her emerald green eyes are almond shaped.

"And what if I don't be respectful? There's not much you could do, county kid." She tells Jane.
