It was a cold, blistery day as Veronica stared out the window, she was dreading school tomorrow. She didn't want to face Heather Duke again after she 'Accidentally' tripped Martha up in the corridor, she really couldn't be bothered dealing with her endless bullshit. Suddenly, she felt a weight rest on her shoulder, the then heard Heathers soft and tired voice next to her
"Veronica, what are you doing?"
"I'm watching the rain."
"well, don't watch it all day, we have stuff to do" Heather said, standing up. Veronica watched as her girlfriend walked into the kitchen, her tall frame Illuminated by the floor lamp in the corner, the only light that was on in the house at this time in the morning.
Veronica sat up from the windowsill as she watched Heather disappear into the kitchen, probably to make her and Veronica a coffee, Heather had always been good at making the most perfect cup of coffee. Veronica quickly realised that she had no time for daydreaming and hurriedly followed Heather into the kitchen. As Veronica walked in, Heather turned around to face her, a tired grin spread across her face, "So, you actually want to do something today?" Heather spoke with a sarcastic tone in her voice. "No, but I don't exactly have a choice, do I?" Veronica replied with just as much sarcasm. She stepped closer to Heather, trying to emphasize her point more. "What are you doing Veronica?" Heather said, the sarcasm in her voice being replaced with the monotonous tome she used when she didn't want Veronica to do whatever she was about to do.
"I want, to ask you a question," Veronica said, leaning closer to Heather's face.
"A-and what would that be?" Heather said, her face reddening from Veronica's gesture.
Veronica took a deep breath, knowing that Heather usually didn't like to change their plans, but she was hopeful.
"Can't we just sit, and watch the rain falling? Watching the world go by from our window?" Veronica sighed, and looked out towards the living room where she had been sat moments before. "Please?" She added, directing her attention back to Heather. Heather, instead of giving Veronica a funny look and saying no, she just stared at Veronica for a couple of seconds before bursting out into a huge smile, "of course, you dork!" She said, pulling Veronica into an embrace. Veronica smiled, burying her face into Heathers neck "thanks...." She said quietly, letting herself relax.
