Nobody had seen Sophia all day, and it was obvious that we had begun to worry. However, we didn't voice our worries out loud, in case she might show up.
The day after that however, still lacked our favorite artist. Immediately, I voiced all my worries.
"Why her? Nobody had ever been after Sophia alone before. If she's involved, it's usually all of us."
"Again, Anji, none of us know." Marygroaned. I had talked about this issue before... more than I'd care to admit.
We had no leads. Gabe was usually out looking for Sofa, so we couldn't talk to him much. If he stayed at the mansion, he would sulk in his bedroom. Poor guy.
On top of Sophia gone missing, my head felt like it was about to explode. It was strange to describe, one minute I was fine, and the next, it felt itchy in my head. After I pointed this out, Elijah nearly sent me to rest.
"I've felt this way before." I explain. "I just can't remember when."
"You should still go sit-"
"I'm fine, I promise."
Eventually, I won him over, but the more I mentioned the feeling, the more wary he became. Even my friends were getting a little cautious.
"Lets just focus on the task at hand." I say. "Any Sophia leads?"
Everyone shook their heads.
I sighed. "Not even you, Sherlock?"
Sherlock shrugged. "I've tried to follow the small leads I was able to find, but I could never keep up with them. They were awful."
I placed my head in my hands and stared at the floor. My best friend, my rock, she had never vanished like this before. I didn't know what to do.
Lucas put a hand on my shoulder. "It's okay Anji, we'll find her. We won't rest until we do."
I smiled. Lucas always knew how to improve my mood. "Thank you."
Soon, everyone was sent on their way. I paced the living room, pondering. Gabe walked in, grumpy as usual.
"Any news?"
He shook his head. I could feel the waves of discomfort radiating off of him. I took his arm, and we made eye contact.
"We'll find her, Gabe."
His blue eyes seemed to look into my soul.
Wait. Blue eyes? Gabe had brown eyes.
"Gabe... why are your eyes blue? They're normally brown." I asked.
His eyes widened, making him look like a deer in the headlights. "I wanted a change. Is that a problem?"
As he pulled his arm away from mine, a white hot pain seared through my head. A flash, Sophia's face, someone screaming, and the world was black.
