10. A Different Life

"Is this a game or some bad prank?" I asked.

"No...Destiny Alexis White, before the one who claimed to be your father was your step-father, I left cause I wasn't ready for you" he said.

"Why do you come now?" I asked sobbing.

"I'm sorry Destiny--"

"17 years, 12 days from being 18 and now that I'm in a mental institution you actually give a f**k now ain't that some bs" I interrupted.

"Look I know you're upset but I want to change that, I only came because I needed you to know that I love you" he gave me a picture of me as an infant and him.

"Why?" I cried.

"I don't want to see my only living child destruct like the rest...suicide, drugs isn't the way out of your problems, I know you still don't want me in your life but can you promise me one thing D?"

"What?" I said still crying.

"Fight this depression, your mom lost a child herself before having your brother, sh** when I met her I was crazy and he was like 1 year old, but 2 years later when I got her pregnant with you I was still messed up"

"That's why you left??" I asked.

"I didn't want you growing up with an unprepared dad like me, I was in a gang, none of us was living right so when I named you Destiny I believed that you would reach your destiny even though everything you still have you still have a destiny it might not seem like it but life gets hard sometimes you have the strength to get out of here" he said.

"I feel like I have no destiny at all, I'm feeling so insane but I'm not it felt like nobody was there for me at all"

"I heard about that situation you had with an assistant principal...it was on Facebook..."

"We're back to normal andddd why is everything on Facebook????" I raised my eyebrows.

"You thought nobody was there for you but I bet he was the one who suggested that you should be here if he did then there goes someone right there if he wasn't there for you or care then he wouldn't send you here" he said.

"Cameron my boyfriend or whatever is going on between us he's been in love with me one time he exploded and we broke off for a few weeks....he was there for me the whole time too and I was blind to see it until that I lost him" I said.

"See you're not insane you're just stressed by everything that's going on, believe it or not you'll be able to get all of the crazy thoughts out then you'll think about sh** more and get this whole new perspective" he replied.

"Just promise me that you'll get through this Destiny"

"Okay" I cried and hugged him.

"I wasn't there back then and I'm super late but give me the time to be able to make up for that, I was tempting to come when your mother died but I didn't want to frustrate you even more at that time" he explained.

"1 minute left" the nurse said.

"Do you take them pills?" he asked.

"Sadly, yes I almost got injected earlier because I was very irritated about them pills" I laughed.

"Prove that you are okay some don't even have mental illness to be here, you're too young to be feeling this way, life should be easy you got a lot to live for, you're almost legal my little girl is turning 18 I promise I'll be here with you on that special day" he smiled.

"Time is up" the nurse said.

"I can't wait for the day you get out of here" he got up and hugged me.
