"I'm doing this to protect all of you," he stated with sadness soothed in his voice. He looked at Levi.
"Our son can't live in a world full of those disgusting creatures."
He walked over to Levi and gave him a tender kiss on his forehead.
"You need to be strong son. I'm sorry I wasn't here to help you."
He walked over to Levi's mother and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"I'll be back someday love. Trust me."
Those were the last words Levi had heard his father say.
~timeskip into 4 years later~
Levi cheerfully continued the homework his mother had just given him.
Knowing that the titans were going to break through Wall Maria someday, she wanted to train her son mentally and physically so that he could hide with the most prominent people in the whole nation.
He was only 4 years old and he already knew how to speak fluently and read long paragraphs of questions.
Levi's mother smiled as she looked at her son becoming as intelligent as the man she had married. She sighed remembering him and returned back to the kitchen.
As she prepared their scarce ammount of food for their lunch, she was interrupted by a knock on their door. Her heart began to jump as she rushed to the door expecting to see the love of her life.
(Levi's POV)
I looked up from my book and noticed mother rushing to the door. I was feeling nervous and excited in case the person at the door was my father.
My mother's wide smile turned into a frown as she noticed a scout regiment leader and two cadets standing outside, heads bowed down.
She walked outside of the house closing the door behind her. I bowed my head down and continued answering the questions on my page.
I had already finished my homework and was drifting asleep when I suddenly heard my mother's muffled scream.
(Narrator's POV)
"YOU COULD'VE SAVED HIM BUT YOU DID NOTHING!!" she screamed.
The first cadet tried to calm her down but with no prevail.
"DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR HIM!! she sobbed angrily, "He promised me he would come back..."
She collapsed onto the front porch of her home as rain began to pour on her small figure.
They left Levi's mother there sobbing and wishing that she had been eaten by the titan instead.
(Levi's POV)
*SLAM*
I jolted up from my seat to see my mother return inside the house, looking paler than usual and with bags under her eyes.
"Are you alright mothe-" I began.
"Shut up you fucking peice of useless shit," she growled, "If you weren't alive then your father would be here."
I felt angry and confused as to what she was telling me. She glared at me for a few seconds before telling me to go to my room.
I had received no lunch or dinner that day.
~timeskip into two months later~
I had just turned 5 and already, I was independent.
My mother grabbed my thick, curtain parted hair and shoved me towards the ground.
"Where's the food, brat," she asked drunkenly.
Angry tears stinging my eyes, I replied, "I-i couldn't find any today."
She let go of my hair roughly and told me to get out of her sight.
I hated the world full of titans. I hated the titans. They had taken everything that had meant the world to me.
They took my father.
They took my mother's happiness.
They took the kindness away from my life.
I hated life and I felt as if my love for people killed everyone.
That changed when I met y/n.
