"Hello". A voice started me. My eyes widened and my heart stopped. I quickly crawled over to the nearest corner I could find. Who was there?
"I-Is there someone there?" I stuttered.
"Who are you" the voice replied. It was female.
"My name is Andy, who are you?" I asked. I felt safer because it was a girl, I don't know why but I always felt less scared around strange woman.
"My name is Mary. What are you doing here?"
"I-I was taken here. Phil kidnapped and took me here more than 9 months ago. But I've been in the shed ever since" I felt comfortable for the first time in 9 months.

"What are you doing here?" I asked softly.
"Well, Phil took me here 20 years ago. He took me when I was only 5 years old. I stayed in the shed right up until Christmas Day. He never told me why he moved me, but I guess it was because of a new arrival".
20 years... 20 years... 20 years... It replayed in my mind. 20 years is a really long time to be kidnapped.
"You've been down here for 9 months?" I was shocked. This is no place for someone to be. It was a really small room, 4 concrete walls and a concrete floor, and completely empty.

"Yes, me and Jane" she said.
"Jane?"
"My daughter" she said as if it was normal.
"You have a daughter?? But how?" My jaw dropped.
"Uhm, how old are you?"
"11. But I'm 12 next month" I assured her.
"Well, I had a baby when I was 18. She's 7 years old now".
"Wow. Did you get to go to the hospital so the doctor could take the baby out?"
"No, I had to have it in the shed"

We sat having a conversation for a while. I still couldn't see a thing.
"Where is Jane?" I questioned.
"She's here asleep on my lap. This is where she sleeps. To be completely honest, I thought it was night time, because it's so dark I can't tell, I just guess".
"You seem calm for someone in your situation"
"I could say the same about you". She replied.
She's right. We are in the same situation and I have managed to not go insane yet.
"It's ok Mary. You know why?" I asked.
"Why?"
"The police are here. And they are going to save us".  I nodded.

"I'd trust that guy any day before I'd trust the police" she laughed.
"What?" Why doesn't she trust the police.
"Well, in the 20 years I've been here, the police have showed up at this mans house twice. And here I am. They had two chances of saving my life, and they blew it. I'm not saying they won't find us this time, but it wouldn't shock me if they didn't" she explained.
All the hope put into the thought of me being saved today just went away. I suddenly felt cold.

----

Two days had passed. The police missed us again. We were still sitting in the black dark, it wasn't so bad tho, at least I had someone to talk to. I got to meet Jane. She seems adorable, although I haven't seen their faces yet.
"Andy.. Come on. Your going back to your shed" Phil opened the door and looked down on us.
I stood up.
"W-what about Mary and Jane?" I asked.
"They are staying here. Come on before I change my mind".
"I'm not leaving without them". I protested.
"Andy, it's fine, go" Mary insisted.
"No. I'm not leaving you here with no one". I stared at her until Phil answered.
"Fine. Come on". He insisted.

We all climbed the ladder and we were outdoors again, it was night time. We all stood still while Phil locked the chamber. I seen Mary and Janes beautiful faces for the first time. Funny how they both have blond hair and blue eyes like me. Little Jane reminded me of Mia the second I seen her.
"This way" he grabbed onto mine and Mary's arm as Mary held Jane in her other arm. All of a sudden Mary broke free from Phil's arm and ran the opposite direction. I knew this wouldn't work the second she started running, so did Phil, that's why he didn't bother chasing her right away.

She ran towards one of the high gates that surrounded his garden. She realised this wasn't going to work when she got to the gate, she couldn't climb with Jane and she couldn't climb without her either. She put Jane down beside her and started shouting.
"Help!! Help up please!! Save us!!" She shouted and shouted before she had realised Phil had snatched Jane. He stepped back with Jane in his arms. He put her standing on the ground with his hands around her neck.

"Scream again. And I'll snap her neck, just like that" he threatened. I put my hands on my mouth feeling so helpless.
"Don't you dare hurt my baby" she cried.
"Then calm down" he said releasing Jane.
Mary ran towards Jane and picked her up away from Phil.
"How sick are you huh? Taking me when I was just 5 years old. Holding these two beautiful baby girls captive? Who do you think you are?" She growled, holding Jane in her arms and shielding me by standing in front of me.

"All I wanted was someone to love me!" He cried. "I brought you here so you would love me!" We stood in silence.
"No one. Could ever love you. You sick bastard"  grunted Mary.
You could see in his eyes that he was about to lose the plot. He speed walked towards us and pushed us all into the shed, when we were all inside he stared at us. His last action of the night was to take Jane from Mary's arms and lock the door behind him.

Mary jumped up and slammed her whole body against the door. "No!!! Give me my baby!!! Please don't hurt her! Please" she yelped.
My heart sank into my stomach watching a little girl being teared from her mother like that. Thoughts about what he was going to do with her filled my brain as Mary sobbed in the corner of the room. "Is he going to put her back in that room alone? Is he going to hurt her? What if he kills her?

I walked over to Mary and sat next to her. She had her head buried in her legs as she sobbed loudly. I wanted to speak but I didn't know what to say. How do you even comfort someone in this situation?
"Mary" I whispered.
"Yes sweetheart?" She lifted her head and looked into my eyes.
"I don't know what to say" I told her the truth.
"It's ok darling" she hugged me. "Your only 11 years old, you don't need to know how to comfort someone yet". She smiled. She was very strong. Even though her daughter was taken, she was taking care of me when she needed to be taken care of.

"Mary?"
"Yea" she stroked my hair as I laid my head on her lap.
"I'm scared" I started crying.
"So am I, Andy, so am I".
