I looked at my watch. 5,4,3,2,1. I just prayed that I'd get there in time. I ran into the school building, but it was too late. The bell had already rung. As I approached the classroom door, I was met by my teacher, who was looking for an explanation to why I was tardy. I explained what happened, and she just laughed. She said she'd heard many radical reasons to why people have been late, but she thought mine was the most exciting. So, instead of making me staying after school, she's asked me to write down my excuse. So here it is.
The beginning of my adventure starts with me being late for school. As I ran, I tripped on a crack in the sidewalk and went soaring like a bird. But instead of hitting the ground, I started falling into darkness. It got darker and darker, until it was completely black. Then something hard connected with my backside. I stood up gingerly and I checked to see if anything was broken. Nothing was, but every bone in my body smarted badly. I groaned. Then I heard something that sounded like muttering.
"Hello?" I called out.
"Mamurl. Murph." Was my reply.
"Can someone help me? I need to get out of this hole so I can get to school." Suddenly, something that looked like and elf approached me with a lamp.
"Did you fall from above?" It asked me.
"Yes. I need to get to school." I replied.
"School? Is that your place of enlightenment?"
"Um. I think so. Look, I don't like being late. I need to get out of here."
"What is your name, Tall One?"
"Angie." I muttered, not impressed by their lack of help.
"All hail Queen Angie!" The elf called out. Magically, more elves and a minotaur revealed themselves. To me, these were all things from books. They were now real! I was brought to a better lit area and a crown was placed on my head. I was then declared Queen of this place they called Morp.
It was fun at first, being Queen. Morpians came to me with questions about the world I came from. I told them about school, sports, and about different things about Earth, and they listened. But after a few weeks, it became tiring. I never had anytime to myself. It was always spent with the Morpians. Then I made a decision. No matter what, I had to get out. I carefully planned my escape, and decided on the best night to execute it. Only, I wasn't able to escape. I was forever trapped in Morp.
I had lived in Morp for a few years now, and had grown accustomed to their way of life. I tried to escape every chance I got, but the Minotaur was always guarding the only exit. One day, Maurison, the elf that had asked me who I was, said that I was now betrothed to the Prince of Yorp, and was to be wed to him the next week. I was also informed that I had no choice in the matter. I ran to my chambers and cried.
The weeks passed quickly, with the preparations for my wedding, being the priority. My dress was fitted, and all the Morpians made sure that everything was perfect. Everyone in Morp was excited. Not only would it mean that I would have someone to reign with me,but there would also be an alliance with the neighboring kingdom. On the day of the wedding, I tried my hardest to escape, but the minotaur wouldn't budge. I would have to marry the gross prince of Yorp.
I was walking back to the main area, when I thought I heard my name being called. It sounded like my mom. I tried to call back, but she didn't hear me. I started to cry even harder. The wedding was about to begin when I heard my mother calling me again. I tried to yell back, but to no avail. The wedding started as planned, and I began to walk down the aisle. The prince was at the front, and my legs took me closer to my destiny. Then, he seemed to drift farther away. My legs were moving, but they weren't taking me any closer to the front. Suddenly I awoke. I sat up, and looked around. My room was around me, my goldfish, Sushi, was swimming in his bowl, on my night stand. I could hear my mom yelling at me telling me that I was going to be late for school. I got dressed for school, and headed out the door. As soon as I was outside, the bell rang. I decided to walk fast, not run, and was careful of any crack in the sidewalk. As I got to my class, my teacher was waiting for me. I explained what had happened, and she laughed. Once she had finished laughing, she said, "So the reason you were late was because you slept in?"
"Yup," I said. "Didn't I just say that?"

I wrote this story a couple of years ago for an assessment for school. It's kind of cheesy, I know, but I was really happy with it. I think I got a really high mark with this.
Anyways, thanks for reading! Check out my other story, Mending Our Friendship.
