"Happy Birthday Andy!" I was awoken by a big smile in my face.
"How did you know?" I asked Mary.
"I seen you had it marked on the calendar. November 2nd!" She smiled.
"Thank you" I hugged her.Mary tried keeping a happy act on ever since Jane was taken off her, but I knew she was worried sick every second of everyday. She was being strong for me, I could tell. She hasn't seen Jane in one month, she probably couldn't bare it considering she's spent all of Janes life with her.
Phil had only come in a couple times since the night he took Jane, and every time Mary went crazy on him telling him to give Jane back but he never gave any information on where she was. Not even a hint.Food was becoming a serious issue. I was hungry everyday because Phil would only feed us when he felt like it.
We have our fair share of water though. There was a tap at the back of the room."If only Phil knew it was your birthday, he might of brought us some food or something. Maybe even got you a present" she laughed.
"Oh gosh. Phil hasn't brought be a present since we gave me that T.V set 7 months ago" I laughed.
"He gave you a TV set?"
"Yea. I'm sorry I forgot to show you, but I forgot about it myself"
I walked over to the box at the other side of the room where I had left it."The only channel is the news channel, so I don't like watching it because every time I turn it on I see my broken hearted family".
I used the remote to switch it on.
"Today marks the date of, missing, Andy Jones's 12th Birthday"
"See?" I laughed. But Mary sushed me.
"The people of her hometown have decided to let off lanterns, in hope that they will lead Andy home.
"We are hoping that Andy will see the lanterns that the whole town are releasing, and know how to get home" my mom spoke."Is that your mother?" Mary asked.
"Yep. That's her. Beautiful, isn't she?"
"She sure is" she held my hand.
"It's been over 10 months since Andy has been taken from you. Are you losing hope?" An interviewer asked. I closed my eyes hoping that they wouldn't say yes.
"We will never lose hope on our daughter. As long as she is out there, we will be looking for her". My dad protested."If your daughter was watching right now, what would you tell her" asked the man.
My mom walked closer to the camera and felt like she looked straight at me.
"Andy. If you are listening right now. Just know that wherever you are, we will see you soon because we will do all in our power to get you back home and in your own bed"God I miss my bed.
A tear shed from both me and Mary's eyes. I turned off the T.V as I couldn't force myself to watch anymore.
All I want is to see them one last time. I want to tell them, how much I love them, and how much I have missed them. And I want to let them know I'm alive, I don't want them lying in bed at night, debating whether I'm alive or not.
"I wonder if we went outside, would we see the lanterns". Mary played with her shoe lace, kneeled on the ground."Maybe then I'd know if I was near home or not". I tutted.
I could Mary was about to say something before Phil walked in.
"Phil, could we maybe go outside for a couple minutes?" I asked.
"Not a chance, why?"
"Because it's my birthday, and I just wanted to go outside for a a while".
"No. You remember what happened last time I let you out" he dropped off two plates on a tray and left with a word. Not even a happy birthday.Soon it will mark one year since I was taken. One year since I've seen any member of my family.
"One year feels a lot longer when your stuck in a shed, doesn't it?" I smirked looking at the floor.
"Yea it does. And a month feels like a whole year" she cried. It took a moment to realise she was referring to Jane and how she hasn't seen her in a month. I stood up and walked over to her to comfort her.
"I'm sure Jane is ok. Maybe a little scared. But ok" I circled my palm on her back.
