Hello lovely people! So this is a one-shot for Puppyshipping (one of my favorite ships.) I hope you enjoy this story!!!!
•*•*•*•*•~
It was just another morning for Katsuya Jounouchi. He'd woken up to the blaring of his alarm on his cell and had been so startled that he tumbled out of bed and onto the white carpeted floor. He glared up at the ceiling before getting up and getting ready for school.

After checking to see if his father was still asleep, Jounouchi left his apartment and down the normal path to school. Same old, same old. He sighed. Even though it was the beginning of his final year at Domino High, there was this sense of boring normality. Like nothing had changed at all.

He still had the same group of friends that had been around since freshman year, even though he didn't care to be around them much anymore since they were all moving on in life. Jounouchi still liked them and all, he could still talk to his best friend, Yugi Mouto, if he was having trouble at home. He could still count on Anzu Mazaki to help him with homework. And he knew that Hiroto Honda would be there if he ever needed to vent. But as of late, he hasn't had to do any of those things. His father was out of the house most of his time and didn't return until way early in the morning. And when the old drunk would wake up, He'd be right back out of the house. Not that Jounouchi cared, him and his father weren't as close as they used to be before the divorce. Still, that didn't stop him from feeling lonely from time to time.

"Jou, hello~?" A pale hand in front of his fave snapped his out of his thoughts. He looked down to see Yugi staring up at him with mild concern evident in his abnormal amethyst eyes.

He finally found his voice, "Sorry Yug', when'd you get here?"

"I've been here." He stated. "You were the one about to walk past the school."

Yugi was right. Joy had missed the entire gate opening completely. He really needed to pay attention more, but his ADD wouldn't allow it.

"Sorry Yug', I've got a lot on my mind."

"Anything I can help with?" The shorter teen asked.

"Hn..."

After assessing that Jou didn't feel like talking about it, Yugi shut up and walked with him to first period. Yugi had noticed that Jou was a lot more reclusive as of late but he had decided to leave him alone, thinking it was Jou's father again (The blonde had always had a bad relationship with the man for some reason. Jou never told him all of what goes on at home). Yugi always respected Jou, but sometimes when his best friend was feeling sad or lost, he'd pull away from everyone around him, which in turn would upset Yugi and everyone else. They felt as if he didn't trust them as much as they did him.

Jou took a seat and instantly put his head down, he was exhausted. Recently, he had picked up the bad habit of going to bed at three a.m. He couldn't help it. He had trouble sleeping nowadays. He was about to nod off but the bell had jolted him awake before he could. Today's gonna be great, he thought sarcastically.

After half a day of dragging himself from class to class, Jou came to the conclusion that he couldn't continue on in his state. It was as if his body was slowly shutting down. He went to the nurses office and laid down as instructed, answering the annoying questions that were being thrown at him left and right.

"Well, Mr. Katsuya, you seem to be quite fatigued and irritable." The nurse kindly stated.

No shit, he had wanted to say but didn't. He kept listening to her drone on and on about stuff he already knew. He didn't care. He just wanted to go home and sleep. Jou left the school feeling a lot more drained than he had when he first got there. The walk home felt like it stretched on and on.

He came to a cross walk. He walked forward only to be yanked back and onto the ground. A car horned sounded loud as it zoomed by where Jou previously stood.

"What the hell, mutt? Are you trying to kill yourself!"

Jou knew that angry, deep voice anywhere. He looked up to see Seto Kaiba, owner of Kaiba Corporations and a huge pain in the ass.

"Well?" Seto questioned with his arms folded in an authoritative manner.

Jou stood up, "Well, what?"

The older male huffed in irritation, "Mind telling me why you were about to walk into oncoming traffic?"

"Does it matter?" After seeing the look of disbelief on Kaiba's face, Jou knew that it did indeed matter. He almost died. He sighed out of frustration and motioned for the other male to follow him. They went to a near by park and sat down.

"Now...don't think I'm confiding in you or anything, you wanted to know, so I'm telling you."

Seto nodded and waited for the blonde to continue.

"Ever since the Pharaoh went back to the afterlife, I have felt this overwhelming sense of being stuck in one place while everyone around me moved on. Everyone is thinking about the future, but I can't seem to do the same," Jou took a deep breath and continued. "Since everyone is moving on, I feel less attached and more numb than ever. I haven't felt like this before, even when my parents divorced."

The teens body started to shake from the emotions he was feeling, "I've thought about college and everything like that, but I'm just not good enough at anything . Everything I try to do, I end up screwing up. It's like I'm guaranteed to end up like my drunken, bastard of a father. And I don't want that."

The owner of Kaiba Corporations stared in awe as Jou finished talking. He didn't think he'd live to see the day when the blonde would become as serious as he was. Seto guessed even the most childish people had to grow up at some point. But Jou...he'd done so at such a fast pace that it was almost frightening.

It took him a good few minutes before he could speak, "I understand where you're coming from mutt, but I think everyone goes through what you are feeling right now."

Jou let out a bitter laugh, "Did you?"

"Of course."

The blonde looked up at the brunet who was staring into the distance with a far off expression. Seto opened his mouth to speak, "Right before my adoptive father died, I was given his company. I was seventeen and already the CEO of a huge business." He paused and looked at Jou, "I knew that when I got into the business that I wouldn't be able to see my brother as often as I used to. But I knew that we wouldn't ever be apart from each other."

Seto chuckled quietly, "As a matter of fact, I think I see him at the office more than I do at home."

"What does that have to do with what I just told you?" Jou questioned.

The brunet glared, "In that time of worrying about the future of me and my brother, I lost track of myself and my mental health. My depression had already been weighing on my mind and my anxiety had increased ten-fold."

It was kind of surprising to Jou. The CEO had never shown anything but pride around him and all the others. It's just went to show that even the most prideful have their weakest points.

"So," Jou spoke. "It's not unnatural for me to feel like I'm at the lowest point in my life?"

"A little excessive, but no. Everyone experiences it from time to time, I'm sure."

The blonde smiled in relief and reclined himself on the bench, "That's good to know. Thanks, Kiaba."

"Whatever, just don't take it to heart. I still don't like you very much."

"Doubtful, but whatever." Jou stood up and began to walk away.

"What's that supposed to mean, huh?" Seto almost yelled.

Jou looked over his shoulder and smiled, "I think you actually like me." He relished in seeing the almighty CEO scowl at him before turning away with an embarrassed 'whatever,' and stomping away.

Jou laughed. Yep, he liked him alright.
