Ethel Tarran is not your average 14 year old. She may have hit puberty and have bad temper but I doubt anyone she knows has experienced the most traumatic time of her life at the age of eleven. Do you dream about the time your kidnapper walks into your family dinner party? I don't think so.
Despite having a past she wants to forget, the future doesn't seem that promising either. With her mom constantly fretting about her safety, it's not long before she finds her self flying into a European Boarding School for girls; far away from her family and friends in New York.
Ethel finds it hard to settle into the unusual life at Elle More Academy and making new friends is even harder! After a bad first impression to her classmates, she now has the school's most popular girl trying to take her down and there's nothing she can do about it.
She doesn't know what to do or who to talk to, so what better idea than running away! But when you accidentally walk into the cute boy down the road during your escape, it's not long before she finds herself falling head over heels in love with him. So what if you have to spend the next 9 months at this horrific school. At least during lunch hour you can sneak out to see your crush, even if you know he's dating someone.
