Chapter 1

Emma (Emily Rose)

"Jacob leave me alone." I scream into the phone before hanging up. Jacob is my ex boyfriend who has been following me around for months. He cheated on me. I broke up with him.

I walk around living room. Picking up all of the books that Jacob threw around last night when he came into my place.

"GET OUT!" I tell Jacob with tears running down my cheeks. He picks up one of my books and throws it at me.

"This is your fault. You are so dumb can't you see that I love you. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!" He walks up to me backing me into the wall. I shove him away from me. I run out of the house as fast as I can and run to the nearest coffee place.

I am breathing heavily and I sit down in the booth. I am facing the door. I really need to move. Change my locks or something.

Here I sit still picking up books and broken glass. I sweep a little bit and I'm done. I sit on the couch and look at the clock 9:00 am.

I message Gaby.

To gabby: hey do you want to go get coffee or something?

From Gabby: YES😍

I message her one last time telling her That I will pick her up after I pick Everleigh (my daughter) up from my sister's house.

I walk upstairs to my bedroom and walk to the closet. I grab a nice pair of ripped skinny jeans and a floral top. I grab the sandals and head to the bathroom. First I get dressed. I do my makeup then hair. I brush my teeth as I don't wear lipstick.

I take one last look at myself. Making sure some of the bruises Jacob left on me are covered up. The cuts on the other hand I can't help. Like the one on my lip and on my arm from the glass and his fist.

I walk into Everleighs room and grab some of her things to wear. I grab matching to mine.

I walk down stairs and out the front door making sure it is locked. I walk to the car and look around making sure he is nowhere to be found. I put my bag in the backseat and get in.

Once I get in, I buckle up and start the engine. My music starts and I jump, I turn it down just a bit and back out of the driveway.

I drive for a bit before I get to Amory's I park my car and get out to meet her inside. I have my pepper spray out, not that I ever use it but just in case.

I get to Amory's apartment and knock. Amory answers the door with Everleigh on her hip.

"MOMMY!" Everyleigh yells.

"Hi baby girl did you have fun with Auntie Amory?" I ask and she nods.

I tell Amory that I am just picking up Everleigh and leaving as I have to meet up with Gaby. We quickly get Everleigh dressed and ready, and we go to Gaby's.

One I get to Gaby's I let Everleigh knock on the door. Gaby opens.

"EMMA! LEIGH!" She yells. Everleigh hugs Gaby and then Gaby hugs me.

"Hey girly want to come in for a moment I'm still getting ready." She smiles. She is still putting makeup on so I nod and sit on the bed. She studies me for a moment before walking away.

"What happened Em?" She asks as she applies some eye shadow.

Gaby is my best friend, so I never hide anything from her. I make sure Everleigh is not listening before I tell her everything. About how I am hiding my bruises and how I got the cuts.
