I am Katniss Everdeen. I'm 17 years old. I am from district 12. There is no district 12. I was the Victor of the 74th Hunger games with Peeta Mellark. I started a rebellion against the Capitol. I was the Mockingjay, the icon for the rebellion. Now I lost most of my friends, my bestest friend Gale who's now in district 2 living a happy life, and I lost my sister Primrose. After the rebellion I became mentally disoriented as they say. They brought me back to district 12 along with Haymitch Abernathy who was my mentor in the games. He was the victor of the 50th Hunger games. And not long after Peeta was brought back here to district 12. We three live in our houses at the Victors village which was abandoned during the rebellion but was unscathed.
I was staring out the window of my room looking at the clouds float by in the morning sky
"Katniss dear, time for breakfast" Greasy Sae said as she waited for me by the door. I nod in confirmation. And she goes down the stairs.
Greasy Sae comes to my house every now and then to cook me breakfast, lunch and dinner since my mom's also in district 2 working at the hospital. She was also invited to come back to district 12 along with me but they said she couldn't take remembering the bad memories here. Greasy Sae sometimes brings her granddaughter along with her too.
As usual in the morning I'm in my pajamas so I change in to a clean black sweater and pair of jeans.
I go down the stairs to see Peeta talking to Greasy Sae.
Peeta looks up at me as I descend down the stairs and walk into the kitchen.
"Hey." Peeta says.
"hey." I reply trying not to look at him.
Peeta and I don't talk too much since I mostly just go out hunting in the woods everyday and come home before lunch or dinner.
"So what brings you here?" I ask as I walk towards the dinning table and sit down and look up to Peeta who stands beside me.
"Well I just wanted to visit you since we don't seem to catch each others timing" he says somehow with a sarcastic tune of his voice and then laughs. Greasy Sae giggles along with him.
"Well, I'm here now. Got anything to say?" I tell him.
I guess it sounded harsh or something like that cause I think I caught Peeta giving a short snob.
"Oh!"Greasy Sae says as she look at the wall clock. "I guess I have to go now dearies. See you Katniss. Peeta." She says and waves good bye as she exits and closes the door.
Everything went silent for a while until I looked at Peeta. Not knowing my forehead was creasing.
"What got you mad early in the morning?" Peeta says with a smirk.
"You" I say as I look away.
"hmm really? Well, I was just wondering if I could go hunting with you today." He said as he sat down beside me.
"Yes. Really. And what got you interested into hunting huh? Why don't you just go bake your cakes." I say as I take a bite of my bacon that Greasy Sae cooked for me.
"Well, I got tired of staying in my house everyday and all Haymitch does is drink. And I miss you." He said.
"likewise." I scoop a spoonful of scrambled eggs from my plate and finish my last piece of bacon, trying my best not to smile. I stand up. And see Peeta smiling at my answer.
"so... do I have to bring any weapons or...what?" Peeta asks with hesitation.
"If you want to hunt then go ahead but if you just want to watch then that's fine with me." I walk towards the living room and grab my bow and arrows, slip in to my hunting jacket and into my hunting boots.
